Simon Cowell’s BBC talent show delayed till 2019

Simon Cowell’s BBC dance talent show has reportedly been delayed until 2019.
The 58-year-old music mogul – who already has ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in his arsenal – has produced ‘The Greatest Dancer’, which comes off the back of ballroom and Latin show Strictly Come Dancing’s success on the channel.
However, RadioTimes.com reports that the new programme won’t be ready until early next year, despite rumours suggesting the show will air at the end of 2018.
Kate Phillips, controller entertainment commissioning for the BBC, said: "With the continued success of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, the BBC is undoubtedly the home of dance.
"By launching ‘The Greatest Dancer’ we want to give the vast array of dance talent across the UK the chance to shine.
"I can’t wait to work with Syco and Thames to uncover the talent out there and let our audience critique and celebrate the nation’s unsung dance heroes."
‘The Greatest Dancer’ will allow members of the public to participate and promises to feature dances across hip-hop, jazz, Bollywood and contemporary genres.
The show, which is the first partnership between Simon’s Syco Entertainment and Thames, will last for eight episodes and air on Saturdays.
Former ‘X Factor’ judge Cheryl – who has 12-month-old son Bear with Liam Payne – is expected to appear in the first episode as a mentor.
Britain’s Got Talent’s Alesha Dixon and ‘Dancing on Ice’ panellist Jordan Banjo – who shot to fame as part of dance troupe Diversity on ‘BGT’ – are expected to co-host the show, with ‘Strictly’ professional Oti Mabuse and former ‘Glee’ star Matthew Morrison in line to coach.
Nigel Hall, global head of television for Syco, added: "The auditions for the pilot episode saw some of the most jaw-dropping, heartfelt and moving auditions I’ve ever seen on a dance show. There are some spectacular moments, and we are beyond thrilled to have secured this commission over fierce competition."
