Simon Cowell wants Britain’s Got Talent ‘Champions League’-style show

Simon Cowell wants to create a ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ "Champions League" involving winners of the worldwide versions of the show.
The music mogul already has three new shows, ‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’, ‘Celebrity X Factor’ and ‘X Factor: All Stars’ kicking off this year, but is keen to add another programme in the shape of a ‘BGT’ spin-off which would see each country’s winner competing against one another in one programme.
He said: "I started thinking about maybe making it like the ‘Olympics of Got Talent’, but that would only be every four years.
"So now I am thinking we could do a ‘Got Talent Champions League’.
"So all the ‘Got Talent’ shows from around the world send that year’s winner to compete against all the other winners. I think it would be brilliant because you’d be rooting for your country."
Simon’s idea appears to be similar to the football Champions League, whereby the winners of the major Leagues across Europe take part in an annual tournament to decide who is the best domestic side in the continent.
The ‘Got Talent’ format appears in more than 70 countries, and the 59-year-old star is still planning to air two ‘BGTs’ a year in the UK unless the ratings take a serious nosedive.
He added to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Of course I’d do it again. The idea that you wouldn’t seems crazy – unless nobody watches it."
‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’ will debut on screen on August 31.
Classical singer Paul Potts – who won the first ever series in 2007 – will go up against the likes of dancer George Sampson, double act Stavros Flatley, Collabro, magician Richard Jones, dancers Twist and Pulse, comedian Lost Voice Guy, and reigning champion Colin Thackery.
