Simon Cowell to launch new crime series next month

Simon Cowell is set to launch a new crime television series next month.
The 56-year-old ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge has joined forces with former policeman and investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas – who exposed Jimmy Savile as a paedophile in his documentary ‘The Other Side of Jimmy Savile’ – to launch four-part series ‘The Investigator: A British Crime Story’.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper about the upcoming programme, a source close to Cowell – who has son Eric, two, with Lauren Silverman – said: "He was introduced to Mark last year and they hit it off. They talked and worked on some ideas. This is the first to make it to the screen and could be the first of many. Simon is excited."
The show will return to the killing of Carole Packman, who disappeared in 1985, and re-examine the event, which saw her husband jailed for life in 2004 for her murder although her body remains undiscovered.
ITV has announced ‘The Investigator: The British Crime Story’ will "follow the case over four explosive episodes, combining stylised drama with compelling documentary".
The show is a Shiver and Syco co-production. It will be executive produced by Alexander Gardiner for Shiver and Luke Dolan for Syco, Series Producer is Lesley Gardiner and it is directed by Adam Wimpenny and Hugh Ballantyne.
