Simon Cowell donates 80k to BGT contestant

Simon Cowell will donate almost £80,000 to pay for an operation for a ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ contestant.
The music mogul left 15-year-old dancer Julia Carlile, who suffers from scoliosis and needs to travel to the US for surgery to correct a curve in her spine, thrilled when he agreed to fun her operation.
Simon told The Sun: "There’s no way I would ever have her [Julia] on this show and say, it’s all just about winning the £250,000. I couldn’t do that. You would do the same thing.
"You get letters, you get calls. You have to draw the line at a certain point. But I think if someone comes on in this situation, to do nothing would be, well, I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror.
"You create a connection. And I think with us, in this particular case, I think there is something we can do.
"There’s no way I would ever say: ‘Right, you came second, so it’s all over’."
Julia is competing on the show as part of the dance group MerseyGirls, with sister Alice, 17 and friends, Annie Winstanley, 17, Becky Jordan, 16, and Poppy Gerrard, 15, and had vowed to use some of the £250,000 prize to fund her surgery if they won.
MerseyGirls will compete on Saturday’s (03.06.17) final after being put through on Thursday’s (01.06.17) semi-final, alongside The Pensionalities.
And Simon said: "Whatever happens, we’re going to make sure you’re in a great place. The acts that got me tonight were you and The Pensionalities. Both about friendship and positivity."
