Simon Cowell ‘can’t watch’ One Direction losing

Simon Cowell "can’t watch" back the moment where One Direction came third in ‘The X Factor’.

The music mogul has confessed he still can’t believe the beloved boyband – made up of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik – didn’t win the talent show in 2010.

Speaking at a Q&A for the current series’ final at London’s Wembley Arena yesterday (11.12.14), he said: "I still can’t watch the moment when One Direction came third. I was so arrogant that we were going to win … So even though they’ve done well, I still would’ve liked for them to be able to say they won ‘The X Factor’."

The 55-year-old star returned as a judge earlier this year alongside Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh and revealed that while they’re his dream lineup, other stars have turned down a job on the panel in the past when he’s failed to meet their demands.

He explained: "[They’ve] not so much turned me down but, sometimes, we just won’t pay them what they want. Some of the salaries are getting insane over the last couple of years."
