Julianne Hough's new boyfriend feels like "a pretty lucky guy."
The 'Safe Haven' actress, who split from Ryan Seacrest last March after three years together, recently started dating Canadian ice-hockey star Brooks Laich after they were introduced by their mutual friend, actor Teddy Sears, in December, and he admits he is completely smitten with the blonde beauty.
The 30-year-old athlete told Washington D.C. radio station 106.7 The Fan on Wednesday (19.02.14) that Teddy, who worked with Julianne on her upcoming film 'Curve' thought they would be the perfect match.
He said: "On set, apparently, he (Teddy) was talking with Julianne, and said he had recently just got married--just got back from his honeymoon--and then asked her if she'd been seeing anyone, and she said no or whatever, and I guess he was watching our hockey game at the time. He always watches the game on Game Center on his iPad. I guess he just showed her the iPad and said, 'Well I've got a guy for you,' or something. I guess that was sort of how it started."
Brooks finally met Julianne a few months later.
He said: "He kept mentioning her name and mentioning her name, eventually we connected. Happy we did. In December, Teddy and Melissa [Teddy Sears' wife] came back for a little wedding reception of theirs, back in D.C. here, and Jules came out with them and I got to meet her at that point."
Asked about their romance, he added: "I don't want to get into a whole lot of it; I'm kind of shy on my personal life. But she's a cool, cool gal. She's just a sweetheart, very loving, very giving. She puts so much great out into the world. I'm a pretty lucky guy."
Meanwhile, a source close to the former 'Dancing with the Stars' professional, 25, told E! News that she is equally taken with her new boyfriend.
The insider said: "He's a very nice guy. She really likes him."

The '22' hitmaker reached out to American freestyle skier Torin Yater-Wallace to wish him well at the Winter games in Sochi, Russia, after he named her as his celebrity crush and revealed he listens to her music during his training sessions.
In a new video for 'Entertainment Tonight,' the 23-year-old star said: "Hey, it's Taylor! I just wanted to say good luck to everybody going to Sochi. I wanted to wish all the winter athletes good luck, and Torin -- thanks for listening to my music while you practice. That's amazing."
After seeing the video, the 18-year-old Olympian said: "Whoa. She said my name."
Asked what kind of date he would take the country singer on if he ever got the chance, according to UsMagazine.com Torin replied: "We'd go to the Hickory House in Aspen and get some barbecue ribs and maybe go hot tubbing at the Ritz Carlton. The 'Capote' star, who was found dead in his apartment in New York City on February 2 from an apparent heroin overdose, named his estranged partner and the mother of his three children, Cooper, 10, Tallulah, seven, and five-year-old Willa, as the sole beneficiary of his estate.
A source told gossip website TMZ.com that the Oscar-winning actor wrote his will in 2004 before the birth of his daughters, and he also expressed a desire for his son to be raised in Manhattan so he could be exposed to the city's culture, arts and architecture.
The 46-year-old star also named Chicago and San Francisco as back-up places for Cooper to grow-up if his original request was impossible, and asked that his son visit both cities at least twice a year for cultural purposes.

The Michael Jackson Estate spent $3 million on his children's education in one year.
New financial records, filed by estate co-executors, John Branca and Johan McClain, also show bodyguards and security for the late 'Thriller' hitmaker's mother, Katherine Jackson, and his three children, Prince Michael, 17, Paris, 15, and 11-year-old Blanket, were paid $564,301.57 in 2012.
The executors were required to submit detailed expenditure records, obtained by gossip website RadarOnline.com, for the estate while it is still in probate court.
Katherine was paid $1.386 million in allowance and also loaned more than $6 million from the estate that year, according to the documents.
The late star's children, who are cared for by Katherine in a rental house in Calabasas, California while their Hayvenhurst home is being renovated, were given $3 million to pay for their education and $10,000 for orthodontic bills.
Other costs included $154,323.53 for renovations, $12,000 for renovations on their home cinema and $35,842.05 for utility bills at the house, even though no one was living there at the time.
The estate was $500 million in debt before Michael's death in 2009 but has since earned $600 million and the executors said that while "they have made significant progress in resolving creditors' claims and pending litigation reducing the estate's debt, and solidifying and establishing the MJJ Business as a lucrative and powerful entity in the entertainment industry, the estate is not yet in the condition to be closed.
"The executors have not yet resolved all of the creditors' claims. There is litigation pending and there is an ongoing tax audit. Therefore, executors request that the time for administration of the estate be extended for one year after the court enters its' order settling the account."

The talk show host and her actress wife - who she married in 2008 - feel lucky to have one another and Ellen says her feelings for her partner grow stronger every day.
Speaking in the new edition of People magazine, she said: "I love her so much it kills me.
"The tabloids had a photo of Portia not wearing her wedding ring. She goes, 'I didn't wear it because when I ride horses and I'm holding the reins, it gives me a blister!'
"The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time.
"It's what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We're really lucky because we know how rare it is."
Ellen came out as gay 17 years ago and still can't believe the reaction her revelation sparked at the time.
She said: "I thought everyone knew me and I didn't think that one little adjective was going to define me. I didn't have perspective for a while.
"Now I look at it as a movie that I saw that someone went through and I only experience the amazing life that I have right now."
The 56-year-old star is "comfortable" with her life and career now so is pleased to be hosting the 86th Annual Academy Awards on March 2.
She said: "I'm comfortable right now and it's never good to be comfortable as a performer. Hosting the Oscars is pretty much the scariest thing you can do. To me, this is right up there with bungee jumping!"

The 39-year-old singer is around five months pregnant with her first child, and though rapper Mr. Papers has said he is the father of the baby, her pal Jennifer Dalton insists she is the only person who will be in the delivery room with her.
Jennifer said: "She says she has like five midwives, and I'm one of the midwives. I'm going to be in there with her when she gives birth! She has a lot of good people around her, but there is only one person allowed in the room with her and that's me! I'll fight tooth and nail for that!
The 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' star has been by the side of the 'Lighters Up' singer throughout her pregnancy and says one of her most important jobs is making sure her friend can sleep well.
She told Us Weekly: "I've been helping her with everything - anything that she needs I'm there. I go with her to the doctor's appointments, the ultrasounds.
"If she has cravings, we go get it for her - certain things that she just wants and needs, I'll help her go get it.
"I have to give her all these pillows. She tucks herself in between them... She has two behind her head, one by her chest, one between her legs, two on her back -- she's just cuddled in between pillows. All you see is little Lil' Kim in the fetal position with pillows everywhere. It's very cute!"
