Pharrell Williams: Album is tribute to women in his life

Pharrell Williams named his album 'G I R L' because women have been "loyal" to him throughout his life.
The 'Happy' hitmaker believes females could "cripple" the human race if they all united and he wanted to create an LP that would honour empowered ladies everywhere.
He explained: "I instantly knew that the name of the album was called 'G I R L', and the reason why is because women and girls, for the most part, have just been so loyal to me and supported me.
"There is no breathing human being on this planet that did not benefit by a woman saying yes twice. Yes to make you, and yes to have you. Point-blank."
The 40-year-old musician further emphasised his homage to women on the album, revealing that gender is one of the main themes across his new songs.
He said: "If women wanted to cripple the economy, all they gotta do is not go to work ... if they wanted to end our species, cripple our species - seriously! Like, women can look out into space at all the stars and go, 'You know what? I can actually end all the human life on this planet right now. All I gotta do is just say no.'
"There's a huge value placed on that - on something so simple like if all our talk-show hosts late at night all were women, that's a very different world."

Kanye West ‘jealous’ of Pharrell Williams

Kanye West is reportedly jealous of Pharrell Williams.
The 'Blood On The Leaves' rapper is said to be keeping a close eye on the 'Happy' hitmaker after reports he is close to signing a deal with Adidas, the same sportswear brand that Kanye has been commissioned to design a clothing range for.
According to The Sun newspaper, a source revealed: "They are competitive in both music and fashion, Kanye always watches what Pharrell does. He thinks having a similar artist working on their own brand for Adidas will make his collection less special."
Kanye signed a deal with Adidas in December last year after a spat with the Nike - over royalties for his exclusive collection of Air Yeezy sneakers - which resulted in the end of his business relationship with the sportswear brand.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old rapper has announced plans for his very own movie, which follows his 'Yeezus' tour.
A release date for the film is still to be confirmed, and it is believed his fiancée Kim Kardashian - whom he shares eight-month-old daughter North with - is set to play a "pivotal" role.

Kanye West announces Yeezus tour movie

Kanye West has announced a movie based on his 'Yeezus' world tour.
The 36-year-old rapper has teased the concert film, which will be directed by frequent collaborator Hype Williams, with a 30-second teaser trailer on his official website.
The trailer intersperses footage from his ongoing world tour, as well as clips from his recent 'Bound 2' music video which featured his fiancée Kim Kardashian.
The website states: "Yeezus film directed by Hype Williams coming to theatres".
Music video director Hype Williams has previously been entrusted to helm the elaborate visuals for Kanye's hit songs 'All of the Lights', 'Stronger' and 'Gold Digger'.
The 'New Slaves' star has recently been linked to a biographical film based on his 'Yeezus' album and it's rumoured Kim, 33, may have a starring role.
Author Bret Easton Ellis divulged details of the secretive project, revealing he has been approached to pen the script but was initially reluctant to sign on.
He said: "I didn't want to at first. Then I listened to 'Yeezus' and I thought, regardless of whether I'm right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this."
Kanye isn't expected to star in the film, but Kim - who is the mother of his eight-month-old daughter North - is being lined up for a "pivotal role".

Robin Thicke dedicates track to Paula Patton

Robin Thicke has dedicated a song to Paula Patton.
The 'Blurred Lines' singer and his wife announced they have split after almost nine years of marriage earlier this week, but he appears to be desperate to win her back and even dedicated his 2007 hit 'Lost Without U' to her during his concert in Fairfax, Virginia, last night (27.02.14)
Speaking to the crowd he said: "For y'all that don't know me and my wife separated, but I'm trying to get my girl back. She's a good woman."
Thicke - who wore his wedding ring throughout the duration of the gig - told fans that he'd written the song for his wife before launching into an emotional rendition of the track.
The 36-year-old singer-songwriter's tribute comes after he admitted he's willing to do anything to win the actress - who's the mother to his three-year-old son Julian - back.
He said previously: "I'm just trying to get her back. You know. [I'm] just trying to figure it out, man."
It emerged earlier this week that the couple had split following a series of rows about Robin's controversial behaviour, which kicked off with his MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) performance which saw Miley Cyrus Twerking against him whilst wearing a tiny bikini.
