Alicia Silverstone refuses to give her son medicine.
The 'Clueless' actress also decided not to inoculate her two-year-old child, Bear, with husband, Christopher Jarecki, against chickenpox and measles, as she believes an "all natural" diet and "chemical-free" approach to life is the best way to stay healthy.
The 37-year-old vegan star told PEOPLE.com that her son "has never been sick."
She added: "I'm not against Western medicine. The problem is we're using it as a first step for everything, even when it's not needed."
Alicia also wrote in her new book, 'The Kind Mama': "There is increasing anecdotal evidence from doctors who have gotten distressed phones calls from parents claiming their child was 'never the same' after receiving a vaccine. And I personally have friends whose babies were drastically affected in this way."
Encouraging other parents to "get educated and make a decision that feels best for you," she added: "Vaccines are a very complicated issue."
Alicia also said Bear has rarely been sick as a result of his healthy diet.
She said: "Because his body is a super-clean, healthy machine it can defend itself and flush out all the nasty stuff much more quickly than a baby whose diet isn't as kind."
The blonde beauty has previously attracted criticism for some of her parenting skills, including chewing her son's food before giving it to him, and ingesting her placenta through a pill.
But earlier this week, she said: "As far as critics, I'm very secure in the choices I make because I'm really informed and I trust my instincts and when I need help, I go to the people I see parent or birth or be pregnant in a way that was really inspiring me. And the rest is just noise."

Bruce Jenner accompanied his estranged wife to a hospital on Wednesday morning (16.04.14).
The Olympic gold medallist was spotted taking Kris Jenner, whom he announced he was separating from in October after 22 years of marriage, to Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California, just weeks after they were photographed holding hands at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) upon returning from a family holiday to Thailand.
A source told gossip website TMZ.com that Kris, 58, needed X-rays and possible tests for an "undisclosed medical problem" and Bruce, 64, drove over from his bachelor pad in Malibu to be by her side.
Despite appearing to be closer than ever, 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star Kris dismissed speculation they had reconciled earlier this week.
She told E! News that they are "just good friends" and confidantes.
Announcing their split last year, the former couple, who have two biological daughters, Kendall, 18, and Kylie, 16, together as well as eight other children from previous relationships, said: "We are living separately and we are much happier this way.
"But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority."

P. Diddy can't wait to be honoured by his former university despite backlash from students.
The rapper - real name Sean Combs - will receive an honorary doctorate degree from Howard University in Washington DC and give a keynote speech at its graduation ceremony on May 10, despite current students blasting the decision because he dropped out from his business degree in 1990 to pursue a career in music.
One student wrote on Twitter: "Can someone explain why Diddy, a person who never graduated from Howard, is speaking at graduation?"
Another tweeted: "diddy is gonna make the commencement speech at Howard but what is he gonna say. 'Well I dropped outta here & got rich but good luck (sic).'"
But the 44-year-old star ignored the controversy as he gushed about the upcoming event on Instagram on Wednesday (16.04.14).
He wrote: "For one of the first times in my life I am truly speechless. There are no words to describe the feeling I had when I heard the news that @HowardU was presenting me with an Honorary Doctorate degree and inviting me to give the keynote commencement address on May 10th. @howardU I'm coming home! Thank you to @WFrederickMD, the Howard University Board of Trustees and all of the students of Howard University #TurnUp #Bison4Life."
A spokesperson for the university also told gossip website TMZ.com: "Howard University continues the tradition of identifying leaders whose work has clearly contributed to the advancement of their fields and the world ... We are honoured to have Mr. Combs serve as our speaker."
CNN presenter Wolf Blitzer, transplant surgeon Clive Callender, jazz composer Benny Golson and PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi are also set to speak at the 2014 Howard Commencement.

Lamar Odom is ready to sign his divorce papers.
The basketball star's wife, Khloé Kardashian, filed court documents to legally dissolve their four-year marriage in December, following months of rumours he was addicted to cocaine and cheated on her multiple times, and he has finally realised he won't be able to win her back.
A source told gossip website RadarOnline.com: "Lamar finally gets it, his marriage to Khloé is over."
The 34-year-old athlete is expected to formally submit a response to the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star's divorce petition in the next few weeks, after hearing she "adores" her new beau, French Montana.
The source said: "There was a time when Lamar said he would never give up on getting back together with Khloé, but he recognises she has obviously moved on. He will tell his attorney to submit a response to Khloé's divorce petition. It isn't expected to be a long drawn out divorce, since there is an iron clad prenup in place."
Lamar is said to be very upset that the 29-year-old beauty has moved on with the 'Pop That' rapper, despite rumours he is spending time with his ex-girlfriend, Liza Morales, with whom he has children, Destiny, 15, and 11-year-old Lamar Jr.
But the source insisted: "It's family time only and there is no romance involved between Lamar and Liza. Liza is extremely supportive of Lamar's continued sobriety."

Mila Kunis is reportedly expecting a baby girl.
The 'Oz the Great and Powerful' star, 30, is set to welcome her first child with fiancé Ashton Kutcher, 36, later this year and recently found out the gender of their unborn baby.
Sources told Us Weekly magazine that the 'Two and a Half Men' actor - who was previously married to Demi Moore and helped care for her three daughters, Rumer, 25, Scout and Tallulah, 20, with her ex-husband Bruce Willis, is thrilled to be having little girl as he "got plenty of practice with Demi's girls."
The heartthrob is taking great care of his partner during her first pregnancy, according to another insider, who said: "Ashton is doting on Mila."
The couple have yet to comment on Mila's pregnancy, but the brunette beauty proudly showed off her growing baby bump in a black dress at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles last Sunday (13.04.14).
A friend said: "Mila absolutely loves being pregnant."
It was previously reported that the duo - who started dating in 2012 following Ashton's split from Demi - wanted to start a family for a year before Mila got pregnant.
A source said: "They are both beyond ready to be parents. They've been talking about having children for nearly a year. They are so excited for that next step."

Tori Spelling admits Dean McDermott broke her heart.
The former 'Beverly Hills 90210' star was "absolutely blindsided" when her husband checked into a rehab facility in January, after it emerged he cheated on her with Emily Goodhand, 28, during a trip to Canada in December.
The 40-year-old actress told Us Weekly magazine: "He was my soulmate, but he completely broke my heart."
The blonde beauty - who has four children, Liam, seven, Stella, five, Hattie, two, and 20-month-old Finn, with Dean, is upset for being criticised for not filing for a divorce and her decision to air their troubles on her upcoming reality series, 'True Tori.'
She said: "I feel so judged, but it's not black and white.
"There are children involved. I need to try to figure this out. You don't stop loving someone because they do something really bad to you."

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones worked hard to get their marriage back on track.

Miley Cyrus is "miserable" in hospital.
The 'Adore You' singer was rushed to an emergency room on Tuesday (15.04.14) after suffering a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics prescribed to her for a fever, and was forced to cancel a second concert on Wednesday (16.04.14).
Writing on her Twitter page, the 21-year-old star, who was due to perform at the Scottrade Centre in St. Louis, Missouri, said: "I can't get a hold of my team because it is so early so I want to be the one to tell my fans especially the ones trekking to get there (tbc)
"the hospital is sayin i wont b released today therefore Im not going 2 make it 2 St Louis. Im so sorry but somethings are outta my control (sic)."
The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker also lashed back at suggestions she didn't want to perform.
She tweeted: "humans can b so selfish. if any1 thinks id rather b layin n a hospital bed than doing what i love on stage theyre f**kin LAME. im miserable (sic)"
A source told gossip website TMZ.com that Miley was spotted shopping with her mother, Tish Cyrus, not long before her allergic reaction.
The singer was allegedly given antibiotics because she is run down from partying and the recent death of her dog, Floyd, earlier this month.
A source claimed she has been "an emotional mess" since the dog was killed by a coyote on April 1 and was unable to sleep, adding: "She's been off the rails since this happened."
But her father Billy Ray Cyrus said she is doing well, tweeting: "Everyone and everything is o k. Thank you so much for your prayers and love. (sic)"
Miley kicked off her 'Bangerz' world tour in February and is due to wrap it up in Madrid, Spain on June 17, 2014.

Lindsay Lohan was spotted falling over and "reeking" of alcohol following a party to celebrate her new sobriety-focused reality TV show, 'Lindsay'.
The 27-year-old actress - who recently claimed she was "clean and sober" during an appearance on The David Letterman Show - invited pals to New York's Gramercy Park for the screening earlier this month, where she was reportedly seen stumbling around and smelling strongly of alcohol.
A source told Star magazine: "Lindsay was laughing at herself and having drinks. When she stepped inside the elevator, she reeked of booze and could barely stand!"
"She was walking in a zigzag, and everyone in the lobby was staring. She was definitely not sober."
Despite her vow to stay away from alcohol, the troubled star fuelled yet more rumours she was struggling to stay on the wagon when it was reported she had enjoyed an alcoholic drink at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Saturday (12.04.14).
Lindsay - who recently completed her sixth stint in rehab - was accused of consuming vodka with a group of friends during Kid Cudi's set.
A witness told InTouchWeekly.com: "She looked completely out of it. She couldn't stand up straight and she was frantically chain-smoking cigarettes. In one of her hands she had a plastic cup with a clear liquid in it. She didn't seem to care who saw and none of the group seemed concerned."
