Oscar Pistorius to undergo psychiatric tests

Oscar Pistorius has been ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation.
The paralympian's trial for the murder of girlfriend Reeva Steencamp - who he maintains he shot in the mistaken belief she was an intruder - has been adjourned while he is tested by experts after the judge presiding over the case ruled psychiatric evidence brought before the court in Pretoria could not replace a "proper inquiry" into his mental health.
Judge Thokozile Masipa has adjourned the case until next Tuesday (20.05.14), when she will give the details behind a ruling which could see the defendant evaluated for a minimum of 30 days at a psychiatric faculty.
The move comes after forensic psychiatrist Merryll Vorster said earlier this week that the athlete suffered a generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), prompting prosecutor Gerrie Nel to make an application for a psychiatric referral, which the defence team opposed.
However, the prosecutor insisted a referral was necessary because the condition might have affected Pistorius' behaviour on the night he killed his girlfriend.
The judge said the evaluation will ensure Pistorius will get a fair trial, but added it would be "preferable" for him to undergo the tests as an outpatient.
Legal experts say the prosecution - who have questioned why the psychiatrist was called to give evidence so late in the proceedings - are keen to show the defence keeps changing the reasons why their client fired his gun, going from putative self-defence, to accidental shooting, and now to something linked to his anxiety disorder.
If Pistorius is found to suffer from a mental illness, he cannot be held criminally responsible for murdering Reeva and would be found not guilty by reason of "mental illness or intellectual disability"

Gisele Bundchen raises chickens

Gisele Bundchen raises her own chickens.
The 33-year-old supermodel is so committed to eco-friendly living, she has her own flock of birds in her Los Angeles garden and relies on them to take care of any leftover food so it's not wasted.
She explained: "I have a beautiful garden in L.A. where I raise chickens. We have very little waste because the chickens eat all of the vegetable scraps, and anything they won't eat, I put in my compost pile with the chicken poo."
The Victoria's Secret beauty, who has two children - Benjamin, four, and 17-month-old Vivian - with her husband, football star Tom Brady, also revealed she is fond of making snacks from scratch for her kids.
When she's not strutting her stuff down the runway, Gisele and Benjamin like to make fruit leather - chewy rolls of dried fruit - for the youngster to take to school.
The Brazilian star told Food & Wine magazine: "Benjamin and I make his school snack together - fruit leather in our dehydrator. You can use any fruit, but I always use banana as the base because it has great texture and sweetness.
"My son is so proud, he goes to school and tells all his friends he made his own snack."

Julia Roberts travels with family on Mother’s Day

Julia Roberts celebrated Mother's Day in two different cities.
The 46-year-old actress had to be in New York City on Sunday (11.05.14) for the premiere of her new HBO drama 'The Normal Heart', so instead of having a brief celebration with her kids - twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, nine, and six-year-old Henry - in California, she decided to fly them all out with her.
She said: "We celebrated Mother's Day the whole day. We started in California celebrating, then we got on a plane and we celebrated, and then we arrived here in New York and they all took me out to dinner. It was beautiful."
The 'Pretty Woman' star helped her husband, Danny Moder, and their three children to pack their bags for the trip to the Big Apple but confessed they all spent most of the day making sure she didn't have to tend to her usual motherly duties.
She told People magazine: "Everybody was well organised for the day ... Well, one day out of the year, they can tighten the ship!"
Julia also revealed what gifts she'd received from her children and explained how her youngest son Henry had chosen a card with fill-in-the-blank sentences.
She said: "One of them said, 'My mom is happiest when ... she gets home from work.'"
The blonde beauty admitted that despite loving her job, she's thrilled to be able to focus on her children once she gets home from work,
She added: "When you get home and you see those cute little faces and those big eyes, you just go, 'Yes.' I feel like when I walk in the door, as soon as I see them, everything else just disappears."

Kelly Osbourne proud of Ozzy Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne is proud of her father for overcoming his addiction issues.
The 29-year-old star struggled to fight back tears when Ozzy Osbourne - who briefly relapsed in 2012 after seven years sober - was presented with the Stevie Ray Vaughan award during the MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert on Monday night (12.05.14).
The Black Sabbath frontman and reformed drug addict was being honoured for his contribution to the charity and his efforts helping others fight substance abuse, something Kelly has also dealt with in the past.
She wrote in a moving tribute on her website: "Whoever would have guessed that my father would win an award for sobriety? As his daughter who has faced similar struggles, I could not be more proud of the man that my father is today.
"My father was honored with the Stevie Ray Vaughan award (in all honestly I was so proud I had to fight back the tears). I am so grateful to all of my father's friends and colleagues who came to celebrate such an incredible milestone in his life."
The 'Fashion Police' co-host went on to thank heavy metal rockers Metallica for paying tribute to her legendary dad with a rendition of his own track, 'Diary of a Mad Man'.
She enthused: "I want to thank Metallica for not only taking the time out of their ridiculously busy lives to be there to support my father but seeing them play an acoustic set of some of my father's favorite songs including their own rendition of 'Diary of a Mad Man' was one of the most amazing tributes to my father I have ever seen.
"Thank you to all who were involved for such a successful night and great cause."

Jessica Simpson sets wedding date

Jessica Simpson is getting married around Independence Day.
The 33-year-old singer-and-actress and footballer fiance Eric Johnson - who have children Maxwell, two, and Ace, 10 months, together - will tie the knot over the July 4 weekend in Santa Barbara, California.
And the blonde beauty - who was previously married to Nick Lachey for three years until 2005 - is not planning to walk down the aisle in a traditional white gown.
A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Jessica is having something unique made. It will be very different from the Vera Wang she wore to wed Nick Lachey."
Jessica - who got engaged to Eric, 34, in November 2010 after five months of dating - recently admitted her plans have been progressing and she is "very close" to issuing invitations for her nuptials.
She said: "We are very close to sending out our invites. I've been very picky on how I want everything to look and feel. Eric's family alone is almost 90 people, so it'll definitely be a big event."
Jessica hasn't released new material since her 'Happy Christmas' album in 2010, so she wants to start focusing on her career again after the wedding.
She recently explained: "We're building a studio in our house. I bought a house from Ozzy Osbourne, so a lot of the studio was already set up. I want to see what comes out. It's time for me to find that out, and I can't wait for my kids to experience that with me. Even Eric. He's never seen me perform onstage."

Rihanna helps police charity

Rihanna has donated $25,000 to the Los Angeles Police Foundation.
The 'Diamonds' hitmaker made the kind gesture after accidentally breaking LA Police Commission President Steve Soboroff's mobile phone when he asked her for a selfie at the Los Angeles Clippers basketball game against Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday (09.05.14).
The pop star dropped his phone as she tried to take the photo, cracking the screen, prompting her to later tweet: "Sorry I broke your phone @SteveSoboroff 🙂 (sic)"
And Steve later revealed the guilty star had made a donation to help police cadets from underprivileged backgrounds and bereaved families of officers killed in the line of duty.
He tweeted: "BIG @rihanna news: she's donating $25,000 to @LAPoliceFdtn for cadets & families of fallen officers.(sic)"
The pair have since met again at another basketball game, and Steve asked Rihanna to sign his damaged phone.
She complied with his request, writing "Sorry! I ♥ LAPD. Rihanna."
The phone is now up for sale on eBay to raise money for the police foundation, and bidding has reached a staggering $10,000.
The auction ends tomorrow (15.05.14).

Jay Z extortion case dropped

Jay Z is no longer seeking extortion charges over his old recordings.
Producer Chauncey Magan was detained last month after the '99 Problems' hitmaker's label Roc Nation accused him of stealing master tapes in 2002 and demanding $110,000 for their return, but as the rapper doesn't want to pursue charges, Los Angeles police are no longer investigating the case.
However, according to TMZ, LAPD officers will hold on to the recordings until a civil judge tells them otherwise.
Mahan - who was interning at Roc Nation when the recordings were made - previously claimed he had been asked by the record label to keep track of the music because the 44-year-old star was just "a stupid kid smoking blunts" at the time, and was reckless with his intellectual property.
The producer also insisted he repeatedly told Roc Nation he had the masters - which include 'I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)' and 'Holla' - over the last decade and only requested the money when he could no longer afford to pay the storage fee.
He claims he only asked for the cash as compensation for keeping the recordings for 12 years in Northridge, California.
Roc Nation sent an employee to meet Chauncey at the storage locker, paying him $2,500 to open it, and were able to verify that the never-before-heard tunes were indeed Jay Z's.
The so-called culprit also added that some of the masters sound "awful".

Beyonce’s cryptic Solange photos

Beyonce has hinted she is standing by her sister following her attack on Jay Z.
The 'Drunk in Love' hitmaker shared no less than four snaps of herself and Solange Knowles, 29, in happier times in the space of half an hour on her Instagram account today (14.05.14).
This comes just 24 hours after it was reported her younger sister - who was caught on video attacking Beyonce's husband in an elevator at the Met Gala afterparty - had deleted all pictures of herself and Beyonce, bar one, from her own space on the social media website.
Among the reflective snaps, the singers are seen hugging onstage just last month at Coachella festival, when Beyonce surprised the crowd by joining Solange on stage during her performance.
The other pictures include the sisters smiling for the camera in a shot that appears to be from several years ago, and in another, Beyonce grins as she rests her head on her sibling's shoulder.
Footage emerged earlier this week of Solange throwing kicks and punches at Jay, 44, in an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York after attending a Met Gala after party on May 5. Beyonce, 32, is also present but remains passive throughout the altercation.
While all parties have remained silent on the incident, the singer's spree of pictures suggests she is eager to put the drama behind her and supports her sister.
The 'XO' crooner didn't caption her pictures but they have certainly sent tongues wagging, with fans offering their own opinions about her intentions for posting them.
One commented: "Families have problems but you're family so you keep it moving...love the fact that they don't need to say anything lol (sic)"
Another person wrote: "Her sister delete all her photos with B and now B put the pictures back ! Only one reason: B wants to make up! (sic)"
On Sunday (11.05.14), Beyonce also posted pictures of her and her husband - with whom she has two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy - smiling and enjoying themselves at a basketball game.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon re-enact wedding

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon "re-enacted" their wedding at home for their anniversary.
The couple traditionally throw a lavish vow renewal ceremony on 30 April - the same day as their twins Moroccan and Monroe celebrate their birthdays - but this year began the day with a small party for their three-year-old children, followed by an intimate evening together.
Nick told Parade magazine: "We definitely had a good time. The first part of the day, we threw a birthday for them and their friends at their school, and then after that, once we tired all the kids out, we had a nice romantic rooftop evening and kind of re-enacted some of our wedding and engagement rituals that we do every year."
The 'America's Got Talent' host - who married Mariah in a surprise ceremony at her Bahamas home in 2008 - admitted last year's celebrations in Disneyland, Florida, were so "over the top", the couple deliberately opted for a more muted anniversary this time around.
He added: "So it was low key. I mean the year before, we kind of went over the top with Disneyland, so we kind of wanted to reel it in this year so everybody doesn't think that we try to do that every single year."
The 33-year-old star admitted he and the 'Hero' hitmaker always try to see the funny side in constant speculation their marriage is in trouble.
He said: "You kind of have to ignore it because every week it's something different, and if you paid attention to it, it actually probably would start really affecting you...There's no merit or truth to it. It's kind of humourous, really. It couldn't be further off from the truth, and it really affects the credibility of the so-called newspapers."
