Tori Spelling ordered her nannies to take time off while she was in hospital.
The reality TV star was treated as an in-patient for six days for a migraine last month, leaving husband Dean McDermott - who has admitted to cheating on his wife last December - to take care of their kids Liam, seven, Stella, five, Hattie, two, and Finn, 20 months.
A source told RadarOnline.com: "Dean was forced to take care of the kids on his own, at Tori's direction. They employ two nannies, one part-time, who takes Liam and Stella to school, picks them up, and helps with homework.
"The other nanny is full time and helps Tori at home with the younger children, Hattie and Finn. It was so typical of Tori to do, and extremely passive aggressive. She also told the crew filming to not help Dean at all with the kids, as they have done when Tori is home. As soon as Tori came home, the nannies reappeared."
The 'True Tori' star - whose latest reality show is chronicling the couple's struggles to save their marriage - is also said to have stopped her spouse spending much time in hospital with her.
The source added: "She wasn't going to allow it. Tori demanded that he take care of the kids....there is absolutely no reason why Dean couldn't have gone with her, or visited more. He very much wanted to, and the fact that the producer was calling to give him updates speaks volumes about the status of their relationship."
Friends of the couple have now slammed their behaviour, insisting they are letting their problems get in the way of their children's needs.
The source said: "The two of them are extremely messed up, and have tons of insecurities... The fact they have four innocent kids that they are exposing to all of this chaos with the cameras is just selfish and disgusting."

Mark Wahlberg wants his children to "trust" him.
The 42-year-old actor - who has kids Ella, 10, Michael, eight, Brendan, five, and Grace, four, with wife Rhea Durham - thinks it is important to have a close relationship with his family so they aren't "terrified" of him, but he insists that doesn't mean he won't administer discipline when needed.
He said: "I think the most important thing is to always be involved in every aspect of their life. To give them enough trust that they can share things with you. I don't want them to be terrified of me, you know?
"But I don't want them to think they can do whatever they want and get away with it, either, because they can't."
The 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' star - who spent time in prison when he was younger - is proud of his success but worries his wealth means his kids won't "appreciate" things in the way he did when he was younger and growing up in a poor area.
He told the new issue of Esquire magazine: "The biggest thing for me is, you know, as quickly as I was able to turn it around, to get from there to here, from me having nothing as a kid to me here now, providing everything for my kids, it's like, I worry that maybe they won't appreciate things.
"I worry that maybe they'll have a sense of entitlement. You don't wanna give your kids everything without giving them the tools to be great people."

Courtney Stodden "punched" the first guy she kissed in the face.
The 19-year-old starlet - who split from Doug Hutchison, 53, after two years of marriage last November - was just eight years old when a classmate with a crush on her "cornered" her in the playground, and she admits her response to the smooch was "a little violent".
Recalling her first kiss, she said: "I was about probably eight years old. I was in first grade and the boy who had a huge crush on me, he would run around the playground and he would chase my around and I thought he had cooties. So one day he cornered me and kissed me and I was having none of it and I literally punched him in the face. So my first kiss experience was a little violent."
The blonde beauty can't bear being around insects or spiders and gets "freaked out" if she sees a bug.
Asked her biggest fear, she told Fox411: "I hate to say the old classic spider thing. I can't stand termites, I can't stand roaches, and insects. All of that stuff freaks me out. I'm such a little girl when it comes to bugs and termites, that kind of thing. So anything that's creepy and crawly, it freaks me out."

Kim Kardashian is worried bad weather could "ruin" her wedding.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star will tie the knot with Kanye West - with who she has 11-month-old daughter North - this weekend but she was overheard complaining about the wet conditions in Paris, France, yesterday (21.05.14) during a family dinner at the Hotel Costes.
She said: "I hope the rain doesn't ruin my wedding."
A source added to Us Weekly magazine: "She made it clear that this bad weather is really getting to her. She's clearly spending millions getting married in Europe, and if it all turns into a wash-out she will be really unhappy."
While her loved ones tried to reassure her that conditions will improve by the weekend, it was clear the gloomy weather was still on her mind when they stepped out of the eatery for a visit to the Eiffel Tower.
She was heard saying: "This weather has to get better. Spring in Paris is meant to be about sunshine, but all we're getting is rain."
The restaurant is a favourite of Kanye's and he is a regular visitor when he is in the French capital, but he and his bride-to-be didn't spend long at the eatery, opting to join family including Kim's mother Kris Jenner and her estranged husband Bruce, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie, Kendall and Brody Jenner, for just the later part of their meal.
A source told E! Online: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were joined by Bruce and Kris Jenner, sisters Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and more family and friends for a fancy dinner at the Costes restaurant in France on Wednesday evening.
A source tells E! News, "They sat in a private room off the main dining area, which is where Kanye always likes to sit. He often comes and sits with Jay Z and Beyoncé there during Fashion Week and when they are all in town. Kanye is lovely and always comes here.
"There were around 14 of them. All the Kardashian sisters, who looked beautiful. They ordered an array of starters including avocados, prawns and salads, and then lots of main courses. Kim and Kanye came towards the end and only had dessert.
"The whole family and group also had champagne. They had a great time. All in all, they were here for about an hour and the bill was 2,400 euros, so they definitely had a good time!"
The wedding celebrations are due to begin tomorrow (23.05.14), with a private tour of the Palace of Versailles ahead of a rehearsal dinner there, for which guests are required to wear vintage French royalty-themed attire.
The wedding party and guests are then expected to fly by private jets to Florence, Italy, for the nuptials on Saturday (24.05.14).

Ryan Seacrest performed on 'American Idol' last night (21.05.14).
The 39-year-old star - who has fronted the talent show since it began in 2002 - took to the stage on the show's finale for a surprise musical performance, which was introduced by programme mentor Randy Jackson.
Wearing a tuxedo, Ryan sang Richard Marx's classic ballad 'Right Here Waiting' - which quickly turned into a duet when the curtains rose to reveal the crooner and the two performed together at the piano.
Speaking afterwards, Ryan jokingly told the audience: "I apologise. [That was my] moment in the sun."
Judge Harry Connick Jr. claimed the performance would trigger a new career direction for the host.
He joked: "My prediction? You're going to have a record deal before this night is over."
Ryan replied: "I hope not."
Despite his successful TV career, it seems the presenter wasn't comfortable with singing.
He had tweeted before the show: "I've never been nervous on the idol stage before...tonight it's very different. Watch this. #idolfinale (sic)"
Other musical performers on the two-hour show included Aloe Blacc, programme judge Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, John Legend and Lady Antebellum.
Finalists Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson performed with Paramore and KISS respectively, and the evening ended with Caleb crowned the winner.
He attempted to sing his debut single, 'As Long As You Love Me', but quickly got swept away with the emotion of the night and abandoned the performance to hug his fellow contestants.

David Beckham's mum calls him up when she sees billboards of him in his underwear.
The retired soccer star - who recently launched a new swimwear range for H&M - still isn't used to seeing himself fronting brand campaigns in next to nothing and neither is his mother, Sandra.
Asked about whether he gets used to seeing himself on giant billboards, he told ShortList magazine: "I don't think so. Especially not when I've got my mum calling me up saying, 'I've just seen another huge billboard of you in London - just you, in your underwear. "
Although at first David - who has children Brooklyn, 15, Romeo, 11, Cruz, nine, and Harper, two, with wife Victoria - was embarrassed by the prospect of allowing the world to see him half-naked, he has grown used to it, but he was left red faced in New Jersey during the Super Bowl where there were millions of posters of himself all over the city.
He added: "But it is what it is. At first I was like, 'Oh my God I'm sat there in my underwear and everyone around the world can see it.'
"This year at the Super Bowl it was ridiculous. I've never seen so many billboards of myself in one city. Every corner I turned, every street, I was there, so it was verging on embarrassing after a while."

Sharon Osbourne thinks Justin Bieber "needs a good slap".
The outspoken music manager - who has managed her rock star husband Ozzy Osbourne for over 30 years - thinks the troubled pop star is surrounded by the wrong people, who constantly allow him to get away with behaving badly.
Sharon said: "He needs a good slap. He is surrounded by the wrong people, by kiss-asses. I would say, 'Put your little ass in the studio and don't come out until you have a great body of work.' "
The candid music expert went on to dismiss the Canadian heartthrob's music as being "floppy, poppy [and] disposable" and thinks he needs to put out great music in order to have a "licence to misbehave".
The sharp-tongued star also opened up about her own life, admitting years of cosmetic surgery has left her looking like a comic book villain.
She quipped to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "A couple of years ago I looked at myself and thought, 'Oh dear, you look plastic.' I looked at myself being interviewed on TV - I looked like The Joker!"
Sharon, 61, has previously proclaimed the 'Confident' singer would need to go to hospital "to get my foot out of his ass" if she were his manager.

Hugh Jackman forgot to warn his daughter about his nude scene in his latest movie.
The 45-year-old actor claims he put a lot of work into making sure his body was at it's best for his nude scene in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', but confessed he didn't get to enjoy watching it back because he'd forgotten to tell his daughter Ava, 8, and son Oscar, 14, to cover their eyes.
He said: "It is actually really cool to watch it [the film] with them until you get to the moment where you're naked onscreen and you forgot to warn you almost 9-year-old daughter.
"And she says, 'Dad, why aren't you wearing underwear?'"
'The Wolverine' star - who is married to actress Deborra-Lee Furness - admits his strict diet on the day of filming the revealing shots may not have been the best idea, as he was so thirsty he passed out.
He told the New York Daily News newspaper: "You have no idea what goes into the lead up to a scene like that. It was a year ago.
"I know that exactly because it was May 21.
"I stopped drinking water for 24 hours, I pumped up on set for about an hour before shooting. And fell asleep by 2 o'clock!"
Hugh stars alongside James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence in the superhero sequel.

Iggy Azalea had to clean poo off of a doormat while working as a cleaner.
The 23-year-old star has confessed she was working as a maid in her hometown of Mullumbimby in New South Wales, Australia until one day, when she was forced to clean faeces off of a client's doorstep, she decided to move to Miami to pursue her dream of becoming a successful rapper.
She said: "I had already been dropped out [of school] for about a year and I was working cleaning houses full-time.
"You'd be surprised. I found a poo once on a doormat, which is not where poos belong.
"It was one of those spiky doormats that gets the dirt off the bottom of your shoes. And it was just like, definitely human."
The 'Fancy' hitmaker - who is dating Los Angeles Lakers basketball star Nick Young - admits she chose to move to Miami because she was excited about getting away from the countryside and partying in the city.
Speaking on the 'Chelsea Lately' show, she said: "I felt like Florida was for me. I had heard about the craziness and I felt like that was the state I should go to. I felt like Florida was it."
Despite dropping out of school at a young age, Iggy admits she still thinks about her education and hopes to receive an honorary degree in the future.
She said: "I could get an honorary degree too, you guys, you don't have to have any education for that either. I could still get a degree."
