Rita Ora was nervous about making her feelings for Calvin Harris public.
The pop star initially refused her producer boyfriend's idea to record a song together and was wary of putting her emotions down into words on her number one single, 'I Will Never Let You Down', in case it jinxed their romance.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, she revealed: "I thought it was a bad idea. I said, 'I don't know what's gonna happen, babe.' All that political s**t, I didn't want to think about it. But when we started to write, it happened so naturally it felt right.
"There was a moment when we were like, you know, we're both known. It could become difficult. This message, I won't let you down, is a message of hope. It's the little reality that we do have left in this... [fame bubble]."
Rita, 23, has become one of the most recognisable faces in the world since hitting the big time in 2012 with her summer anthem 'Hot Right Now'.
The Kosovo-born star has lost most of her old friends because they struggled to adjust to her new-found status and she doesn't have time to deal with their complaints that she has changed.
She lamented: "I have had some [friends] that you don't even recognise any more. It can be scary when people start to act weird around you. They even ask if they can go to the toilet.
"People say 'Rita has changed' but we are supposed to change. You have a career to change for the better and to succeed.
"It's not your job to persuade friends that you are the same. They have to accept I am going to change because I am working my b****y arse off.
"But you shouldn't worry about it, you should worry about your album and your shows."

Monty Python decided to reunite following a £800,000 legal bill.
The British comedy troupe - Terry Jones, 71, John Cleese, 74, Terry Gilliam, 72, Michael Palin, 70, and Eric Idle, 70 - will re-enact sketches from their TV series 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' and scenes and songs from their three films in July this year with a series of live shows at The O2 in London.
John Cleese has revealed the group decided to perform together again after they lost a royalties case to Mark Forstater, who produced their 1975 film 'Monty Python And The Holy Grail'.
Talking on British talk show 'Alan Carr's Chatty Man', John said: "We had an £800,000 bill from a legal case and the costs were enormous. We all got together and thought, 'How are we going to pay an £800,000 legal bill?' and someone said, 'Let's do a show.' "
In addition, John is in need of the extra income to pay his ex-wife Alyce Faye Eichelberger more than £600,000 a year.
He has been trying to pay Alyce nearly £8 million in money and assets over the last four years, following their divorce in 2008, and is obligated to pay her £612,000 annually until 2016.
The group - who last performed live together at the Hollywood Bowl in 1980 and were last on stage in the UK 40 years ago - would like to experiment with new material but think fans would prefer the old gags.
John added: "People want the old stuff. They know the sketches."

Sarah Jessica Parker appreciates her own mother more since having children.
The former 'Sex and the City' star - who has three children, James, 11, and four-year-old twin daughters Marion and Tabitha, with her husband Matthew Broderick - credits her mother Barbra Forste for helping her stay grounded and keep her priorities in check.
Sarah told People magazine: "We didn't have a lot growing up, but I saw my mother, who was a mother of eight, constantly volunteering her time and energy.
"Now as a mother of only three, I'm that much more cognisant of the kind of effort she made to help make us better human beings. To just watch her was inspiring."
Despite her busy schedule, the 49-year-old actress tries to give back and works with the Turnaround: Arts to help bring art programs to struggling schools in the US.
She said: "I've seen so much energy and engagement. The students look forward to that part of their day, and it's an even more joyful place to arrive every morning.
"It's changing the way these children experience school and making a difference in their lives."

George Clooney took Amal Alamuddin on a surprise tour of the 'Downton Abbey' set.
The 53-year-old actor, who became engaged to the British human rights lawyer last month, arrived at his fiancée's London home unannounced earlier this week and whisked her away on a trip to nearby Surrey, in southeast England, where he took her to visit the set of one of her favourite TV shows.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "George took Amal completely by surprise.
"He turned up at nearly midnight after jetting into Heathrow.
"George literally told Amal to grab some clothes before they jumped in a cab down to Surrey.
"She though it was so romantic, she loves how unpredictable he is. The set visit to Downton Abbey was the icing on the cake of a crazy few hours."
The couple are said to have indulged in a romantic stroll around the grounds of Highclere Castle, where the ITV period drama is set.
Meanwhile, 'The Monuments Men' star is expected to meet his future mother-in-law, who lives in nearby Buckinghamshire, while visiting the UK.
It's been reported that George will relocate to London once the pair have married so that Amal can continue her work as a barrister at the Doughty Street Chambers.

Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross will reportedly be getting married at Diana Ross' mansion.
The 29-year-old singer and 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' actor - who is the son of the 'I'm Coming Out' hitmaker - are said to be planning to tie the knot at the home in West Hollywood, California on Labour Day, which falls on the first Monday in September, according to the New York Post newspaper's PageSix.
Evan, 25, popped the question to Ashlee - who is the younger sister of Jessica Simpson - in January after six months of dating, but admitted previously that he was so smitten with the star he could have proposed much sooner.
He also admitted that his mother Diana, 70, would be helping him and his fiancée plan their nuptials.
He said: "She's involved in every part of our wedding [and] engagement party."
The news comes months after Evan confessed that he was so desperate to be married to Ashlee - who has five-year-old son Bronx from her marriage to Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz - that he was considering eloping.
He said: "Honestly, we could go and get married right now, wherever. We just want to be married. We're in love."

Justin Theroux will marry Jennifer Aniston on his birthday.
The couple will reportedly tie the knot on August 10 - two years to the day the actor proposed on his 41st birthday - after undergoing "months of therapy" to talk through their problems.
A source told Britain's Grazia magazine: "After talking honestly, their issues seemed to evaporate.
"Justin admitted he hated the idea of an over-the-top wedding. Jen's happily agreed to a low-key do with friends and family.
"Jen's thrilled and Justin couldn't be happier."
Justin has reportedly agreed to relocate permanently from New York to Jennifer's Los Angeles home.
The source continued: "Jen doesn't like Justin going to NY alone and lunching with his ex-fiancee Heidi Bivens.
"But once she offered him space to script-write, Justin agreed to move his office to Los Angeles."
It was recently claimed the couple have been working on a script together.
A source said: "They worked out a story idea and a list of characters, and when Justin went away on a job for a week, Jen was so inspired she just kept on writing - alone."
But Justin was reportedly less than impressed with her efforts and it caused tension between the couple.
The source said: "Jen got the message loud and clear, shrieking, 'Are you kidding me? You're the one who pushed me to do this. I told you I wasn't a writer. Justin wisely zipped it as Jen angrily ripped up her pages and stormed off."

Ashley Roberts sees a spiritual guide and a guru regularly.
The former Pussycat Dolls star thinks it should be compulsory to have a "life coach" and she has an "army" of people to consult to help her make personal and professional decisions.
She said: "Growing up in school you're given maths and science but you're not given life classes.
"A few years ago I felt like my dreams were getting fulfilled but I wasn't happy, so I decided to seek out a life coach.
"I think everyone should have one because sometimes you do need a bit of help. I've got a team that I see - a swami [spiritual guide], an acupuncturist, a guru. I've got a whole army."
The 32-year-old beauty felt "burnt out" when she left Pussycat Dolls in 2010 and found spending time with a guru helped reignite her "passion" for her career.
She added to Stylist magazine: "After the Pussycat Dolls, I was burnt out. So when I left them in 2010 I did take a second to say, 'Right, I've done this for seven years, who the hell am I as an individual? Do I still want to do this?'
"I took a good couple of years out and followed a guru called Amma around and did a three-day retreat of hugging and mantras. That really helped me get my passion back."

Thandie Newton's son was born on her bathroom floor.
The British actress and husband Ol Parker welcomed baby Booker Jombe in March but she didn't want him to be born at a hospital so arranged for a midwife to be at her home instead.
She told US TV's 'Today' show: "He was born on the bathroom floor.
"I had just associated hospital with being ill, and I felt beautiful and healthy and wonderful when I was pregnant, and being at home is the place I felt most relaxed and comfortable."
The 41-year-old actress also had daughters Ripley, 13, and Nico, nine, at home, and feels it to be perfectly natural.
She added: "For me, it feels normal. There was a time when everybody had their babies at home and it wasn't such a big deal."
The 'Crash' actress announced her pregnancy in September and later admitted she was finding it tough working on action-packed police drama 'Rogue', in which she plays undercover cop Grace Travis.
She said: "Basically, I had two options; to withdraw from the show which would have meant the show collapsing, or to commit regardless.
"I'd seem actresses takes on meaty un-pregnant roles while carrying babies - Jodie Foster in 'Panic Room'. My agent also reassured me that both Claire Danes and Anna Paquin worked well into their first pregnancies. So - it was all going to work out just fine wasn't it?
"We're on episode nine, and are near enough to finishing for me to be able to chuckle at my naivety in thinking this was going to be anything other than mayhem, with a waddling lead actress at the centre.'"
