Emma Watson has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations (UN).
The 'Bling Ring' actress is "excited" about her role promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women for the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women division of the international organisation.
She tweeted: "So excited to start work with the AMAZING people at UN Women! (sic)"
The 24-year-old beauty - who has visited Bangladesh and Zambia to promote girls' education - went on to say she is humbled by the role and hopes to "make a real difference" to the lives of women and girls around the world.
She said in a statement: "Women's rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life that I can't imagine an opportunity more exciting.
"I still have so much to learn, but as I progress I hope to bring more of my individual knowledge, experience and awareness to this role."
And the UN are equally delighted to have Emma on board.
Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, said: "We are thrilled and honoured to work with Emma, whom we believe embodies the values of UN Women.
"The engagement of young people is critical for the advancement of gender equality in the 21st century, and I am convinced that Emma's intellect and passion will enable UN Women's messages to reach the hearts and minds of young people globally."
The 'Harry Potter' star will now work for UN Women's HeForShe campaign which calls for men and boys to stand up against inequalities faced by women and girls around the world.

Zoe Saldana claims being "desired" helps her life make sense.
The incredibly private actress - who has been the subject of speculation she is pregnant - shares a connection with her painter spouse Marco Perego because they are both "artists" and understand the ups and downs that come with their respective careers.
She told Fashion magazine: "When you are desired and you desire, so many things in your life start to make sense.
"We both feel we are artists in our core. One moment you're up; the next moment you're down. It all depends. You can sell a collection; you might not sell the next collection. It's like an actor - you get cast or you don't."
Zoe, 35, can next be seen in 'Nina' and was very "proud" to have been handed the role of legendary singer Nina Simone, promising fans she has handled the biopic with "love and respect".
She said: "I handled the role with the same love, the same respect and the same pride that any other black person would, because I am a black woman, a proud Latino black woman, and nobody's going to take that right from me."

Mel Gibson has "worked on himself" since making anti-Semitic remarks.
The 'Passion of the Christ' actor feels frustrated that comments he allegedly made when being arrested in 2006 after often referred back to because he has "dealt with" the incident and moved on.
He said: "It's behind me; it's an eight-year-old story. It keeps coming up like a rerun, but I've dealt with it and I've dealt with it responsibly and I've worked on myself for anything I am culpable for.
"All the necessary mea culpas have been made copious times, so for this question to keep coming up, it's kind of like ... I'm sorry they feel that way, but I've done what I need to do."
Despite his lengthy career, the 58-year-old star insists he has never had a "plan" for his professional path.
He told the Hollywood Reporter: "I never did really have a master plan. I just do what's in front of me and what interests me at the time. There are ideas everywhere and they come literally from everywhere and that's good. But there are no new ideas, ever. The only thing you can do that is different is to execute the idea differently."
Mel's past controversies were recently brought to the forefront by Gary Oldman, who defended his antics in an interview and slammed "political correctness".
The 'Batman Begins' actor subsequently apologised himself for any offence he may have caused in the piece.

Lea Michele will mourn Cory Monteith privately on the anniversary of his death.
The 27-year-old actress was left devastated when her boyfriend and 'Glee' co-star died of a drugs overdose on July 13 last year, and though she will reportedly honour him in a small way on social media, she plans to spend most of the day alone.

Keira Knightley never planned to get married.
The 'Begin Again' actress walked down the aisle with The Klaxons keyboardist James Righton in an intimate ceremony in the south of France last year, and no one was more surprised that Keira herself because she had never dreamed of tying the knot when she was growing up.
Asked whether it was always part of her plan, she replied to Time Out magazine: "Never! My parents are deeply hippy. They got married because it was the only way they could get a mortgage. I grew up with them going, 'Don't know why you'd ever get married.' And then we did. But it's been fun."
Keira is even hoping she can join her husband James and his band on their tour bus this summer.
She said: "I don't actually know what festivals he's doing. I should know that! I might jump on the bus, if they get the bus. I love the tour bus!"
The 29-year-old actress also opened up about going through a tough time a few years ago when she became a figure of hate by women, and admits she can understand where it was coming from.
She mused: "I was working a lot, being followed by photographers. There was absolutely no space. You're never going to warm to someone if they're tense and frightened.
"Fear is a funny thing. People smell it on you and it doesn't make them nicer to you. It can be quite repellent, the smell of fear. I think I had that about me for a long time."

Kim Kardashian would rather be at home with her family than working.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star - who has 12-month-old daughter North with husband Kanye West - admits settling down has made her "totally re-prioritise" her life and her career will now always come second.
She said: "You know, now that I'm married. I would so much rather spend time with my husband, my family, and my baby, than run around the world working for other people."
The 33-year-old beauty found it particularly "tough" going out to work soon after her daughter was born, but is always happy when she motivates herself to do so as she feels "good" once she is embroiled in a project.
She added to CNBC: "It could get tough after you have a baby. There [have been] so many times when I just didn't wanted to get up and work on something.
"I just wanted to be home with my baby, but for me, I think I can speak for my sisters, it makes us feel good when we are out working."
Kim claims she and her sisters have learned a lot about juggling their personal and professional lives from their mother and manager Kris Jenner.
She said: "My mom kind of taught us girls we could have it all. You know, she works hard. She taught us that if you work hard, it's just all about prioritising."

Michael Douglas insists "nothing" surprises him anymore.
The 69-year-old actor - who has battled tongue cancer and split briefly from second wife Catherine Zeta-Jones last year - identified a lot with his new film 'And So It Goes', in which he plays a man whose granddaughter moves in with him after her drug-addicted father is sent to prison because of his own experiences with son Cameron, who has been incarcerated for drug offences since 2009.
Asked if his own experiences drew him to the movie, he told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "You read a script and you smile in those pieces...that come close to your story.
"I guess at this point in my life, at my age, you've gone through so many things that nothing really surprises you."
Michael - who has children Dylan, 13, and 11-year-old Carys with Catherine - had the option to make changes to the script, but was happy with the dialogue he was given.
Director Rob Reiner said: "He said just leave it the way it is. It obviously must have been tough for him."
The 'Behind the Candelabra' actor recently admitted he has learned to appreciate his wife more as he has gotten older.
He said: "A lot of it has to do with age. When you've accomplished a certain amount in your career, you're not so focused on your ambitions. It makes you appreciate - and hopefully you do that sooner rather than later - the value of your partner."

Kanye West reportedly had a meltdown over the colour of his linen at Wireless Festival.
The 'Stronger' rapper apparently sent festival organisers into a frenzy over the weekend when they were informed by Kanye's team that he could only have pristine white furnishings in his dressing room, mere hours before his arrival at the London event.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Kanye will only ever have a white dressing room, and this is usually included in his rider. But for some reason, there was black linen in his dressing room on the Finsbury Park site. This could not be allowed to happen. Organisers were told to get rid and replace it with the white stuff or Kanye wouldn't set a foot in there.
"Over the next few hours, festival staff were dispersed all over town to buy new crisp, white linen to replace it all. It was chaotic, but nobody wanted to upset Kanye. Especially as he'd stepped in to replace Drake at the last minute. There was pure panic for a while, but luckily, some were sourced just in time."
Kanye - who has 12-month-old daughter North with wife Kim Kardashian - is said to prefer having an all-white dressing room because the peaceful colour helps him relax before taking to the stage.
An insider close to the star explained: "His tour management requested the switch from the black linen because it's their job to make the artist comfortable before he goes on stage.
"And Kanye is most comfortable when he's surrounded by white. It's just about having a serene place to relax before a big performance."
This kind of request isn't unusual for Kanye as last year he famously demanded that his special white carpet backstage at the BBC be ironed before his arrival.
