Anne Hathaway's first year of married life was "insane."
The 'Les Miserables' actress, who tied the knot with jewellery designer Adam Shulman in Big Sur, California in September 2012, admits she only started to settle into their relationship and "feel safe" a year later.
The 31-year-old star said: "The first year of my marriage was insane. So much happened so fast, and we didn't get to focus on just being married until about a year in. So now, it's just about letting myself feel safe... There was a part of me that I was keeping in reserve, and when I got married, something shifted...That question of, 'How long's this gonna last?' is off the table. And when you're not worried about that, there's space to just be silly."
The 'Interstellar' star, who previously confessed she thought people needed a break from her after she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar last year, claims she is no longer fazed by her critics.
She told the October issue of the UK edition of Elle magazine: "I've realised that don't need validation from anybody. At all. I'm not sitting here now worrying, 'What do you think of me?' "
She added: "And that's so liberating. It's a big reveal, man."

George Clooney is donating most of the profits from his wedding photographs to his own charity.
The 53-year-old actor, who tied in the knot with British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, 36, in Venice, Italy during a three-day celebration over the weekend, is reportedly giving a large chunk of the money from their multi-million dollar publishing deals with PEOPLE magazine in the US and HELLO! magazine in the UK to the Satellite Sentinel Project, which the 'Monuments Men' star co-founded in 2010 to monitor war crimes in Sudan.
A source close to the Oscar winner told gossip website TMZ.com: "Every photo in both magazines will be saving a life."
Other sources revealed that the couple decided to sell the publishing rights to the highest bidders to secure the maximum amount of money possible for a small number of their favourite human rights charities.
In March 2012, George - who has a long history of activism in Sudan - was arrested in a protest over the crisis there, but was released shortly afterwards.
Speaking after their recent nuptials, the actor said: "Marriage feels pretty damn great. We're looking forward to everything."
The couple - who got engaged in April after six months of dating - exchanged platinum rings as they wed in front of around 100 guests, including Hollywood actor Matt Damon and U2 frontman Bono.

Justin Bieber enjoyed a boozy lunch with Kendall Jenner today (30.09.14).

News of their meeting comes as a surprise, as Selena, 22, distanced herself from Kendall and her younger sister Kylie Jenner, 17, after they attended the Coachella Valley Music Festival in California earlier this year because she found text messages from Kylie on Justin's phone.
But the brunette beauty reportedly ended her feud with the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' stars in April after realising she "overreacted."
A source said at the time: "Selena has no issues with the Jenner girls. They had an issue but they have cleared it up. She has always liked the Jenner girls. They had been fans of Selena since they were young."
Selena and Justin - who started dating in 2010 - most recently rekindled their romance last month.
The couple flew to Paris together yesterday (29.09.14) after returning from a romantic holiday in St. Martin and are planning to move in together in Los Angeles.

Amanda Bynes has reportedly cut her parents out of her life again.
The 28-year-old actress, who was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) on Sunday morning (28.09.14), moved out of Rick and Lynn Bynes' home in Thousands Oaks, California as soon as her conservatorship ended earlier this month and has allegedly stopped taking her anti-psychotic medication for Schizophrenia and bipolarity.
Rick told gossip website TMZ.com that he and his wife, who was temporarily placed in control of Amanda's welfare after she entered rehab last year following months of erratic behaviour, only learned about their daughter's latest arrest through the media and insists they didn't pay her $15,000 bail.
When asked about Amanda, he repeatedly said: "We don't know."
Insiders claim that the 'Easy A' star has started using marijuana again and is currently staying in Hollywood, but Rick said he thought she might have moved back to New York City.
The blonde beauty was arrested at 3am in San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles after police discovered she was under the influence of a controlled substance, believed to be Adderall, while driving.
She is set to appear in court on October 23.
Amanda was previously charged with DUI in April 2012, but the charge was dropped in February this year and she was sentenced to three years of probation for reckless driving as part of a plea deal.
She also had her driving licence suspended in September 2012 following two alleged hit-and-run charges in April and August of that year, but the case was later dismissed following a financial settlement between herself and the victims.
The actress' licence was restored in April after she attended alcohol education classes for three months, as part of her plea deal in February.

Earlier this year, Sediuk - who has previously accosted Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio and Will Smith at red carpet events - apologised to his victims and claimed he was planning to carve out a career as a model.
He said: "Basically, I'm changing my life. I would like to thank Hollywood for having me this two years and a half. It was an experience that taught me a lot in life. Most importantly, I would like to say sorry for celebrities that had to deal with my stunts and thank them for being tolerant to me all this time."
But he added: "The motivation behind all my pranks was always positive even when some of them went wrong and were not understood by the public."

Jennifer Lopez's rumoured new love interest says he isn't "a scumbag."

Liv Tyler has confirmed she is expecting her second child.

The 'Lord of the Rings' star said: "I hope I will have more children. I'm 100 per cent planning on it.
"If the stork could just drop it off on my roof, I'd be so happy - I'd have, like, 20."
But she confessed she is less certain about marrying for the second time.
She said: "That's something interesting that happens in your thirties. You're not in the stage anymore of princes and happily ever after.
"It's a different stage of acceptance and realisation about the realities of love and relationships. Forever is a long time."

Neil Patrick Harris has revealed Sir Elton John gave a surprise performance at his wedding.
The 'Gone Girl' star tied the knot with his long-term partner David Burtka at a castle near Perugia in Italy on September 6 and his friend Elton was there as a guest.
However, the 'Rocket Man' singer delighted the happy couple and the other guests by playing an impromptu set of his hits.
Discussing his nuptials on 'The Late Show with David Letterman' on Monday (29.09.14), Neil said: "It was fun! We've both been very busy - David and I - we were looking for a time that was appropriate. We didn't want to have to do it just in a couple days and we wanted to do a destination wedding. Our first trip together was in Italy so that seemed fun. We knew a friend of a friend of a dude who had a castle. So we thought, 'OK, that's fun!' There were about 50 people ... Elton John sang a few songs, which was super cool. He's a friend and I didn't expect that. That was overwhelming."
Elton - who is married to Canadian filmmaker David Furnish - also introduced the couple's first dance, and Neil admits the song has special significance to him and David, 39.
The 41-year-old actor - who raises four-year-old twins Harper and Gideon - with David - said: "Our first dance was Kelly Clarkson's 'A Moment Like This'. We loved 'American Idol' season one, we were Team Kelly. That was always kind of our song. We started dancing to it and we had a plan that ... when the song crescendoed - 'Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this!' - fireworks are supposed to go off ... Sure enough, it happened perfectly."

Katie Price's son Jett is "jealous" of his baby sister Bunny.
The 36-year-old TV star gave birth to her fifth child in August and although she's settled right in to life in the Price household her 13-month-old brother is finding it hard to watch his mum dote on his baby sibling.
Speaking in the latest issue of new! magazine, Katie revealed: "Having an extra one in the house doesn't really change things. Harvey's taken to her really well. But God, Jett is so jealous of her! If I'm feeding her and I'm standing up, he clings to my legs. He just wants me to hold him."
Katie - who had Jett and Bunny with her husband Kieran Hayler - took six weeks to pick a name for her baby, but when she did unveil her daughter's moniker she was criticised for choosing such an unconventional name.
But the former glamour babe is not bothered by what other people think about the title Bunny, and she insists it was a popular name in the 1920s.
The busty beauty explained: "Look, I get stick for everything - don't I? So it didn't bother me. I like the name and that's all that matters. I chose it because I just thought it was cute and different. I couldn't exactly go for a normal name after Princess, could I? It was popular in the 1920s. A lot of people are going back to old-fashioned names. I like Ethel, and Piggy was also in the frame."
Katie also has nine-year-old son Junior and seven-year-old daughter Princess Tiaamii from her failed marriage to Peter Andre and 12-year-old son Harvey from her relationship with retired soccer player Dwight Yorke.
