Jennifer Aniston says she is a "forgiving person".
The 'Horrible Bosses 2' actress - who saw her five-year marriage to Brad Pitt breakdown in 2005 and then watched as he entered into a relationship with his now-wife Angelina Jolie - insists she never holds a grudge against people who have wronged her because bitterness can build up like "toxic waste".
Speaking in the December/January issue of Harper's Bazaar - of which she is the cover star - Aniston said: "I'm a forgiving person. I absolutely am. I think it's extremely important to forgive. Otherwise it just builds up like toxic waste. There's nothing worse than holding a grudge. Listen, people can do unforgivable things, but you have to let it go and say, 'Look, we're all human beings. We make mistakes.' To hold any kind of resentment is like taking rat poison and waiting for the rat to die."
Jennifer - who is engaged to actor Justin Theroux - insists her life has improved considerably since she entered her 40s and she considers this decade of her life to be have been the most "fun".
The 45-year-old star insists she has learned to completely love herself and this has had the most positive effect on her life.
said: "I've had more fun post-40 than I can remember, from a work point of view, a physical point of view, a psychotherapeutic point of view. It really helped me get to a place where I was more comfortable with myself, truly ready for love and for a partner. The past wasn't 'less than.' It was extremely important to my growth as a woman.
"If you take the law of attraction, if you only love yourself 70 percent, that's what's going to come back to you. So you fill up that 30 percent, then all of a sudden there's this pure, good love standing right in front of you."

Edward Norton was asked if he wanted to interview One Direction on a rollercoaster - but said he would only do it for $10 million.
The 45-year-old star - who is known for his acting talents in 'Fight Club' and 'The Incredible Hulk' rather than his interviewing skills - has revealed he was bizarrely approached to chat to the boy band in the "toughest interview" of their careers on a thrill-seeking ride at a theme park in Orlando.
Speaking in an interview on talk show 'Conan', which will air on tonight (11.11.14), he said: "Someone involved with the band New Direction, One Direction, sorry, ... said they wanted someone to conduct in a big televised concert, a celebrity, a celebrity interview would be shown during a televised concert with the band.
"They wanted it to be the toughest interview of the band's career and that, that was going to be achieved.
"I thought initially they were saying they wanted me to do it because I'm an intellectual force or something like that.
"They said that it was going to be the toughest interview because it would be conducted on a rollercoaster ... in Orlando."
Edward admitted he was confused on so many levels as to why he had been asked to take on the unusual project and considered it might be because the organisers thought he lived in Orlando already, but joked he would only do it if they donated $5 million to charity and paid the same amount to him.
The 'Birdman' star - who played children's TV host Sheldon Mopes in 2002 movie 'Death to Smoochy' - added: "The recompense for doing this was that I was offered was two tickets to Orlando and accommodation if required.
"I said, 'There's so many things about this offer that are perplexing, the first is, "if required" - is there hope there that I might live in Orlando? And that they therefore save on that particular expense?'
"But the other was just simply, you know, 'Why? Why? What?' I mean, looking back across my body of work I just wondered was it 'Death to Smoochy'. Was it ... which, which of the, which thing inspired the belief that I was the right person to do this?"
When pushed on whether he accepted the request or not, he added: "I said that for $5 million to a charity of my choice and probably the same to me.
"But anyway, so I don't know whether it's Birdman, I don't know what it is but, but, but new and exciting things are coming across my desk."
UK viewers can watch Edward Norton's interview on 'Conan' at 11pm tonight (11.11.14), on truTV (freeview channel 68) - the home of larger than life characters in real situations.

Taylor Swift has launched an app to enable fans to delve into her 'Blank Space' music video.
The 24-year-old singer unveiled the 'American Express Unstaged Taylor Swift Blank Space Experience App' earlier today (11.11.14) and it enables her supporters - known as Swifties - to travel around the mansion featured in her video from her latest single thanks to a 360-degree experience by clicking on their screen.
Speaking to website Mashable, Joseph Kahn, who directed both the video and the app experience, said: "The app is a cross between theatre, a music video and a video game.
"I had to direct it more like a stage show than a music video so the audience can choose any way they want to look; we had to create reasons for them to turn their head or look up or look down."
Users of the free iOS and Android app are tasked with collecting 41 objects in the room in order to finish the game, including a pair of binoculars to get a better look at Taylor and her fictional love interest from the 'Blank Space' music video, which was released yesterday (10.11.14).
Joseph added: "Let's keep in mind that all of this technology is great, but ultimately there's a story.
"That's the key, that's what makes it interesting is that we're tracking the story of her and this guy going on this great date and then her going psychotic. We're a fly on the wall."
App users can also follow Taylor around as she sings 'Blank Space' and even pick up the mobile phone featured in the video for 'Blank Space', which appears on her fifth studio album '1989'.

Jennifer Lopez grew up surrounded by people "scraping and clawing, trying to get by".
The musician-and-actress is among the wealthiest stars on the planet but was raised in the once-impoverished New York City borough of The Bronx, which she says has "inspired" her success.
The 45-year-old entertainer has detailed her early years in her new book, 'True Love: Unabridged' - excerpts of which appear in Latina magazine - in which she writes: "Our neighbours were so diverse; Puerto Rican, African-American, Italian and everyone was scraping and clawing, trying to get by.
"My mum worked two jobs and my dad worked at Guardian Life Insurance. My sisters and I shared a bed and every morning we were bundled off to Catholic school. That's why my parents worked those long hours so they could give us a good education and raise us right."
The 'On The Floor' hitmaker admitted the values she was taught by her parents - Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez - remain with her today.
She explained: "There was that Bronx mentality of taking everything as it comes it was about pressing forward today knowing that the break was gonna come. I was relentless, always reaching forward.
"There was a certain hustle I grew up with, a hustle that I learned from watching my parents. They showed me that you put your head down and work, you work for a living and then when you're making a living you carry on.
"That continues to be my mentality now, you don't stop working just because you have money in the bank - you do what you do and you keep on doing it."

Sir Paul McCartney landed a $1 million payday for performing at a billionaire's investment conference.
The Beatles legend took to the stage at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York on Friday (07.11.14) for a surprise performance in front of 4,000 investors at Ron Baron's annual event, where country star Carrie Underwood also played.
A source told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "It would have cost $2 million to get both McCartney and Underwood, and that's before you've paid for their bands."
Paul performed several hits at the conference and his set ended with an energetic rendition of The Beatles classic 'Hey Jude', which prompted a sing-a-long from the investors which the star conducted.
While a spokesman for Baron Capital didn't comment on how much Paul and Carrie were paid for their performances, he said: "The entire event was paid for by Baron Capital. It was fabulous. Paul McCartney put on a great show.
"There was not one person sitting down in the whole place."
What's more, Vanessa Williams and her 'Show Boat' co-stars put on a performance of the musical which also went down well with the audience.
Every year, Baron - who played Paul's music at his wedding - tries to keep the musical acts a secret from the investors right up until they take to the stage.
Previous performers have included Diana Ross, Sting, Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Sir Elton John, Sheryl Crow and Barbra Streisand, who headlined the conference last year.

Natalie Dormer's sister will deliver her future baby.
The 'Game of Thrones' actress has confessed that while she is not currently expecting a child, she is looking forward to the day she gives birth because she wants her sister Samantha to welcome her newborn into the world.
She told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "My sister just began a three-year midwifery course, and the idea of her helping me to deliver a baby at the end of it is a really lovely one."
The 32-year-old star - who has been dating director Anthony Byrne for seven years - is currently starring alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' and has confessed she is in awe of 24-year-old actress.
She said previously: "Jennifer Lawrence is just the coolest girl. Everyone forgets how young she is because she's so together, such an old soul. She just gets it. She's one savvy chick."
The blonde beauty also confessed she was "thrilled" to have been cast in the third installment in the franchise, which along with 'The Hunger Games' and 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' are based on the novels by Suzanne Collins.
She added: "I went to the world premiere of 'Catching Fire' last year and it was amazing. To be joining 'The Hunger Games' family is such a thrill. It deserves the hype because it's well written, handles really big subject matter, but doesn't talk down to its audience."

Jennifer Lawrence sees many parallels between her own life and that of her 'Hunger Games' character Katniss Everdeen.
The actress - who celebrated the launch of the new instalment of the franchise at the world premiere of 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' in London last night (10.11.14) - has compared the character's struggle to deal with her new found fame with that of her own life when she began being recognised for her talent.
She explained to BANG Showbiz: "I remember reading the first books, and when I read them I was going through my first awards season for 'Winter's Bone' and I'd never experienced anything like that. Just being put in dresses that are uncomfortable and looking not like myself and everyone's listening to you and you're like, 'Don't listen to me, I'm 20!' And then growing into it in a way.
"I feel like there were a few parallels having people look at you and listen to you at a young age when you don't really feel ready, and forcing yourself, thinking, 'People are listening to me so what should I say?' "
However, the 24-year-old star doesn't think she'd be able to handle the pressure that Katniss finds herself under as the symbol of hope for rebellion in the fictional world of Panem.
She added: "I feel like drawing on personal experiences is tricky for me, I never really understand because it's not me, it's a very particular person who handles her emotions in a very different way.
"I'd be crying every single day if I was Katniss, I'd be like, 'Where's my mom?' "
Jennifer was joined on the red carpet at the premiere of 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' by her co-stars Elizabeth Banks, Josh Hutcherson, Jena Malone, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore and Natalie Dormer.
Other celebrities in attendance included Daisy Lowe, Lorde and
Katie Price and her husband Kieran Hayler.

A federal report has claimed the New York clinic where Joan Rivers stopped breathing made a number of errors during her medical procedure.
The damning report released on Monday (10.11.14) stated that Yorkville Endoscopy "failed to ensure that patient care services are provided in a manner that protects the health and safety of all patients" and several procedures were not performed correctly when Joan went in for a routine throat procedure on August 28.
According to the filed documents, the medical team at the facility failed to notice the 81-year-old comedienne's blood-oxygen level was dropping below the normal level in the 15 minutes before she stopped breathing and inconsistently documented the amount of the sedative Propofol she was administered before the operation and did not weigh her before giving her the drug.
The report also claims an ENT doctor without privileges to operate at the clinic was allowed to perform procedures on Rivers, and a member of staff took a photo of Joan on her phone while she was sedated and awaiting the procedure.
In conclusion, the document stated the biggest error made by the physicians caring for Joan was that they "failed to identify deteriorating vital signs and provide timely intervention during the procedure".
It was confirmed that Joan was successfully resuscitated at the clinic before being moved to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Joan never regained conciousness and her daughter Melissa Rivers made the decision to take her off life support on September 4.
Speaking through lawyers, Melissa admitted she was outraged by the findings in the report.
Attorneys Ben Rubinowitz and Jeffrey Bloom said in a statement: "Our client, Melissa Rivers, is terribly disappointed to learn of the multiple failings on the part of the medical personnel and the clinic as evidenced by the CMS report."
Law firm Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, MacKauf, Bloom & Robinowitz added: "As any of us would be, Ms. Rivers is outraged by the misconduct and mismanagement now shown to have occurred before, during and after the procedure."

Meryl Streep and Stevie Wonder are to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The 65-year-old actress and the 64-year-old musician are among the 19 people named by President Barack Obama to receive the US' highest civilian honour, which recognises those who make "especially meritorious contributions" to the country.
In a statement, Obama said: "I look forward to presenting these 19 bold, inspiring Americans with our nation's highest civilian honour.
"From activists who fought for change to artists who explored the furthest reaches of our imagination; from scientists who kept America on the cutting edge to public servants who help write new chapters in our American story, these citizens have made extraordinary contributions to our country and the world."
The awards - which are also being handed to the likes of composer Stephen Sondheim and author Isabel Allende - will be presented on November 24 during a ceremony at the White House.
The announcement comes shortly after Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway revealed she would love to work with Meryl again, having starred alongside her in the popular 2006 comedy-drama 'The Devil Wears Prada'.
Anne told 'The Graham Norton Show': "She's fun and super maternal. When I met her she gave me a huge hug and I'm like, 'Oh my god, we are going to have the best time on this movie', and then she's like, 'Ah sweetie, that's the last time I'm nice to you'.
"She then went into her trailer and came out the ice queen and that was really the last I saw of 'Meryl' for months, until we promoted the film."
