Cheryl Fernandez-Versini insists she will not sign any child stars to her record label because there is "too much pressure" on them to succeed.
The 31-year-old singer is planning to only tie up deals for singers who are "over 18" so she can nurture their talent and make sure they are ready for the dog-eat-dog nature of the music industry as she fears acts any younger than that may crumble under the demands of showbusiness.
Cheryl said: "It's too much pressure. They would have to be over 18. But I would develop them while they're in school.
"Look around at the child stars - the record's not exactly promising."
The 'Only Human' hitmaker - who shot to fame on 'Popstars: The Rivals' when she was 19 - cannot wait to get started on her record label because she loves nurturing talent in her role as a judge on 'The X Factor'.
Cheryl told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I would nurture the artist before they put anything out there. I would ensure my girls do a preparation course.
"I love the aspect of 'X Factor' where I'm nurturing talent. Watching the sparkle in someone else's eye and remembering you having that dream, it's such a buzz."
But the pop star admitted it may be some time before she is ready to launch her label, admitting it would be "ambitious" to think it could be up and running by 2015.
She said: "These things take a long time. I have to get the right team."

Michael Lohan has married Kate Major.
According to TMZ, Lindsay Lohan's father tied the knot with his girlfriend on October 30 in an intimate ceremony at Hillsboro Beach in Florida - but the 'Mean Girls' actor was reportedly not invited nor told about the nuptials.
Lindsay's brother, 'The Parent Trap' actor Michael Lohan Jr., is also not said to have been told about his dad's wedding, nor invited to the ceremony.
Michael revealed last month that he and pregnant Kate - who he has 22-month-old son Landon with - were planning to marry in November.
He said: "We are [getting married] next month. Very small and private beach wedding."
Kate is currently eight months pregnant with the couple's second child, but was recently rushed to hospital after suffering excessive bleeding.
A source said at the time: "Kate started bleeding and 911 was called. Several nurses, paramedics and Sergeants responded because of the amount of bleeding. She was diagnosed with placenta praevia and the baby is in breach position. Kate is a high risk pregnancy and feels she is not getting the proper medical treatment in jail. Friday at the hospital was the first day Kate was examined by an OBGYN."
The incident occurred while the former newspaper reporter was in Palm Beach County Jail, where she was serving an eight-month sentence for driving under the influence (DUI) after testing three times over the drink-drive limit following her arrest in March 2013.
Michael and Kate, who was released from prison in September, initially got engaged over the Easter weekend in 2010 but they broke up shortly afterwards before getting back together.

Fergie is teaching her son about Christmas.
The 39-year-old singer is excited about the festive season and though she admits 14-month-old Axl Jack - who she has with husband Josh Duhamel - has "no idea" what is going on, he already enjoys using Santa's famous catchphrase.
Fergie said: "I'm showing him cartoons, like this is Santa. He has no idea who Santa is.
"I said, 'Ho, Ho, Ho.' He just likes to say, 'Ho, Ho, Ho.' I don't know why."
While Fergie dotes on her little boy, she has recently returned to her music career and admits it "feels good" to be working again.
Speaking to 'Access Hollywood' at the American Music Awards (AMAs), where she performed her new single 'L.A. Love (La La)', she said: "It feels so good, ya know mommy's ready to have some fun."
The AMAs also saw raunchy performances from the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Iggy Azalea, Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj and though the 'My Humps' singer doesn't think she can compete in the "booty" stakes, she is happy to flaunt the assets she has.
She laughed: "I may not have as much booty as some of these girls. I might not be blessed with that, but ya know what, I got a little one. I just work what I got."

Brad Pitt will introduce Rihanna at her Diamond ball next month.
The 'We Found Love' hitmaker is thrilled to have the support of the 'Fury' actor and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel - who will host the inaugural event - at the gala, which is raising money for the singer's Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) and takes place on December 11.
She said in a statement: "It is such an honour to have Jimmy Kimmel host this event. There is no one more hilarious to make the first annual Diamond Ball an incredible night. I'm blessed by his support.
''Brad Pitt is not only a phenomenal talent, but I admire him and am inspired by his philanthropic work."
Around 600 guests will attend the ball, which will take place at the private 157-acre The Vineyard in Beverly Hills, and as well as a performance from Rihanna - who will be backed by an orchestra - they will also enjoy a live auction and a celebratory dinner.
Rihanna's CLF is named in honour of her grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite and works globally to improve the lives of underserved communities in the arts, culture, education, and health.
In 2012, the 26-year-old singer helped found the Clara Braithwate Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in her native Barbados after her grandmother lost her battle with the disease, and some funds raised at the ball will go towards financing improvements at the clinic.

Victoria Beckham took her son to a shopping centre to get his ear pierced at the weekend.
The 40-year-old fashion designer stunned shoppers at a branch of Claire's in Westfield, Shepherd's Bush, West London, when she helped eldest child Brooklyn, 15, select a stud before having the store manager insert it into his ear.
Manager Joe Parker said: "They didn't ask us to close. A few customers noticed, but things stayed calm. I think they were in disbelief."
Mall security had set up the visit, which saw Victoria and second son Romeo, 12, enter through the front while Brooklyn came in through a back entrance with his retired soccer star father David and the former Spice Girls star offered her son advice as he chose his jewellery.
The manager added: "They picked the most expensive earring -- but Victoria told him to go a size down so it wasn't too blingy.
"Brooklyn was cool but I was so nervous, I was like, 'I can't mess this up'."
Victoria - who also has son Cruz, nine, and daughter Harper, three, with David - paid £45 for the earring and piercing, and also snapped up some £20 hair extensions before the family left by the back door after 30 minutes in the store.
Joe told The Sun newspaper: "I couldn't believe what I had experienced.
"They were a lovely family."

The 45-year-old beauty - a mother of three children - says that although she loves her kids, she dreams about disappearing from them at times.
The 'Hollaback Girl' hitmaker was appearing on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', during which the host told Gwen: "You look fantastic. Especially considering that you have three boys that have to be ... Kingston, Zuma and Apollo now. I just saw them backstage, they could not be cuter."
Gwen, a coach on the current series of 'The Voice, responded: "They all wanted to come. They don't really go to 'The Voice' that often, but they wanted to come to this. They love you. They're smart."
Gwen also took umbrage with the suggestion that her kids are unusually well behaved, joking: "It gets crazy. Everybody knows that whole 4-8 at night is like chaos. It's like the crazy time in our house.
"The other day we were driving home and I was thinking ok Motel 6. If I can just find one and go there and disappear. Disappear from my life.
"But, no. They're incredible."

P. Diddy regrets not pursuing a romantic relationship with Cameron Diaz.
The music mogul and the actress were said to have dated between 2008 and 2012, and it's been claimed Diddy, 45, wishes he took their union further.
A source for Us Weekly claims to have overheard Diddy describing Cameron, 42, as the "sexiest girl in the world".
The insider explained: "He was at dinner and the subject turned to Cameron dating [her current boyfriend] Benji Madden. 'If I could turn back time, things would be different!'"
The pair are said to have first met at the Oscars in 2008, and they were pictured together on a number of occasions in the following years - although their respective representatives always denied they were dating.
One noticeable difference between the pair is their attitudes towards family.
Diddy has five children from different relationships, while Cameron says not having kids has made her life easier.
Earlier this year, she told Esquire: "To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for, I didn't take that on. That did make things easier for me.
"A baby, that's all day, every day for 18 years. Not having a baby might really make things easier, but that doesn't make it an easy decision.
"I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother. I have it much easier than any of them. That's just what it is. Doesn't mean life isn't sometimes hard."
