Laverne Cox refuses to have surgery to "feminise" her face.
The 31-year-old actress was desperate to undergo "invasive" surgery to make her face look more womanly during her gender transition, but said although she can now she can afford to have the treatment, she has learnt to accept her imperfections.
She explained: "I have been picking myself apart my whole life.
"I have never talked about the medical details of my transition, and a lot of people assume I've had all this surgery. Years ago, I wanted really highly invasive surgical procedures to feminise my face. All these years later, I have the money to do it, but I don't it. I don't want it! I'm happy that this is the face that God gave me, and it's imperfect."
However, the 'Orange is the New Black' star confessed a comment on her Instagram account in which a person encouraged her to have a nose job made her reconsider her thoughts, but quickly realised it was a silly thing to do, with her fans coming to her defense.
She said: "My fans were like, that's the nose African Americans have, and what's wrong with that? My fans had my back. In those moments I have to look in the mirror and say, this is my black nose, and it's gorgeous."
Speaking about gender transitions, the Emmy Award winner added she has been "so moved" by the positive reaction to Caitlyn Jenner in recent weeks, who was formerly known as Bruce Jenner before undergoing gender reassignment surgery.
She told The Guardian newspaper: "I am so moved by all the love and support Caitlyn is receiving.
"It feels like a new day, indeed, when a trans person can present her authentic self to the world for the first time and be celebrated for it so universally."

The 53-year-old comic star is backing a campaign by the Humane Society International (HSI), which is working with approximately 35 Chinese animal welfare groups and hundreds of animal campaigners across the Far East country, to protest against China's dog meat trade and sponsored a number of candlelit vigils in Tianjin, Beijing and Dalian against the Yulin Dog Meat Festival.
Gervais wants people all over the world to sign a petition to stop the trade, saying: "My friends at Humane Society International (HSI) are working tirelessly to end this cruel trade all over Asia, and they desperately need your help."
Despite officials denying that the event will happen, last month HSI secretly filmed preparations for the slaughter of up to 10,000 dogs that is due to take place next Monday (22.06.15) and managed to rescue two cats and dogs in the undercover operation - one of which they named 'Little Ricky'.
Gervais added: "I've seen the footage that HSI has captured on video, and it breaks my heart. I will never forget the look of bewilderment and fear on the faces of these poor animals. The dogs and cats await a horrible fate. No animal deserves to be treated like this."
Up to 10 million dogs are believed to be killed for their meat in China every year and it is often wrongly assumed to be a Chinese tradition.
However the trade has become increasingly unacceptable and in 2011 a dog meat festival in Zhejiang's Jinghua was shut down as a result of a similar campaign.
Today (15.06.15), Gervais took to his Twitter account to document the abuse dogs suffer when being captured and cooked to satisfy diners.
In a series of tweets, he wrote: "Please help stop the #YulinDogMeatFestival ... Will smug idiots stop asking why it's worse to eat dogs than cows. In principle it isn't. But in this case they torture the dogs first ... They believe torturing the dog makes the meat tastier. They beat them, burn them, skin & boil them alive! Disgusting sub human ***** ... They steal people's pets to torture & eat. What would you do to someone who you caught torturing your dog? I hope you'd stop them somehow ... #StopYuLin2015 (sic)"

Jenna Jameson has suggested she's converted to Judaism.
The retired adult film star - who's previously spoken about following the Catholic faith - has posted a series of messages on social media that infer she's converting to the religion ahead of her marriage to Israeli Lior Bitton.
In reference to the Jewish day of rest, known as the Shabbat, Jenna recently tweeted: "Starting my grocery list for my Shabbat menu... Excited to try a few new recipes!!! (sic)"
Later, she posted: "Finished with my grocery list for my latest menu for Shabbat!"
Jenna also posted an image of a home-made meal, with the caption: "I made home made Chilean sea bass chraimeh, potato pancakes, Israeli salad and yummy challah! (sic)"

Mila Kunis no longer faces legal action over the theft of a chicken.
The 'Black Swan' actress had been the subject of a lawsuit from childhood friend Kristina Karo, who accused her of stealing her beloved pet chicken Doggie 25 years ago, but the aspiring singer has now dropped her $5,000 claim against the star as she has "learned to forgive" her.
She told TMZ: "I've learned to forgive in my heart the people who have wronged me, like Mila.
"There is only one judge and that is God. I pray for her soul and the soul of Doggie, that he has found peace finally in chicken heaven."
Kristina had been seeking $5,000 to pay for therapy to overcome losing her pet, and says the lawsuit became unnecessary when her fans heard the story and helped raise the money.
Mila and her husband Ashton Kutcher - who have eight-month-old daughter Wyatt together - previously laughed off Kristina's claims.
In a video posted online, Mila said: "I was devastated. I was weeping. I was dumbfounded.
"I was like, which chicken did I steal? I was obviously in the village when I stole these chickens so I apologised to this woman who may or may not have been a month old."
And the couple went on to suggest the story had been fabricated to provide Kristina with publicity ahead of the release of a music video.
Ashton said: "So this girl has a music video coming out at the same time she's suing you for $5,000 for the stolen chicken when she was one month old and you were seven?"
And Mila joked: "I would like to launch a counter $5,000 lawsuit for making me watch that music video. My body hurts. My eyes hurt. They're burning.

The Saturdays star, who is now 30 weeks pregnant, has revealed she's been wearing lots of bikinis recently while holidaying in Portugal because she feels uncomfortable wearing anything else due to her expanding tummy.
She said: "My bump has grown massively on holiday. It's taken on a life of its own! I've been wearing bikinis because I feel so much more comfortable in them. Swimsuits just aren't for me."
While the 26-year-old singer - who already has 19-month-old son Parker with her retired soccer player husband Wayne Bridge - confessed she has been left feeling self-conscious in the revealing items, she was pleased to have a positive reaction after posting a photo online of her wearing a bikini while playing with Parker.
She explained: "I was nervous about sharing it at first because my belly is out and the bump is bare, but I really like it and Parker looks so funny! I'm glad I posted it now because I've had some really lovely comments."

She said: "I always knew she was going to be the godmother if I had another baby. Choosing a godmother is a very sacred and important thing in our family. They're going to be guiding your child, and they're responsible for them if something was to ever happen. We try and choose people who we know would raise our child the way that we would raise our child and her thoughtfulness, her kindness, her authenticity . . . is so powerful to me. She's so uninhibited in her giving . . . It's just beyond."
