Shona McGarty won’t leave EastEnders

Shona McGarty isn’t being written out of ‘EastEnders’.
The 24-year-old actress Рwho has appeared in the long-running soap since 2008 Рhas confirmed her alter-ego Whitney Dean is sticking around on the square despite her fianc̩ Lee Carter (Danny-Boy Hatchard) leaving this year.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "No, I’m not going anywhere but there is a big storyline coming up for Whitney and Lee.
"Danny-Boy is always brilliant at storylines. There’s a really really big storyline. It is what it is, people come and go all the time in this job and that’s the reality of this job.
"We’ve got a new producer and he’s lovely. I think he’s going to be really brilliant. Sometimes you have to get rid of good characters to make great storylines. Jobs come and go and I’m just really happy I’ve been there so long."
And, although she understands that cast mates have to leave all the time, the brunette beauty has admitted she’ll miss working with Danny-Boy – who joined the show in 2014 – because he and the rest of the Carter clan are great.
She explained: "I’ve been so busy at work and I’m really enjoying it at the moment at work. I wouldn’t say they’re [the Carters] troublemakers but they definitely have a laugh.
"I think every fictional family on there becomes a real family and it’s fun pulling pints behind the [Queen Victoria pub] bar."
