Shirley Bassey’s Bruce Forsyth tribute

Dame Shirley Bassey is to star in a TV tribute to Sir Bruce Forsyth.
The late entertainment legend’s career will be recognised with a programme dedicated to his life, which will be hosted by his former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ co-presenter Tess Daly, and the ‘Big Spender’ hitmaker is "honoured" to be paying tribute to him on the show.
She said: "Sir Bruce Forsyth was a born entertainer – a talented singer, dancer, actor – always putting a smile on people’s faces.
"I’m honoured to be performing one of his favourite songs in his memory."
Former ‘Strictly’ judge Len Goodman and TV presenting pair Ant and Dec are said to have pre-recorded messages to be played on the BBC programme, which is expected to air next month.
A BBC source told The Sun newspaper: "Dame Shirley was a dear friend of Sir Bruce and held him very close to her heart.
"It is an honour to have her take to the stage as part of such a special night."
The show is to be filmed on Wednesday (21.02.18) at the London Palladium, one day before he would’ve been due to turn 90 years old.
Charlotte Moore, BBC Director of Content, said: "I couldn’t think of a more fitting tribute to our dear friend Bruce than this celebration at the Palladium – a theatre he so loved.
"Bruce was such a favourite with the BBC One audience who I know will savour this hour of entertainment, music and commemoration of a true showbiz legend."
Bruce – who passed away in August last year aged 89 – was previously honoured with a special "heartfelt" dance tribute on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
