Sherrie Hewson mistook Madness for tribute band

Sherrie Hewson mistook Madness for a tribute band when they filmed a guest slot on ‘Benidorm’.
The 66-year-old actress – who plays Solana Hotel manager Joyce Temple-Savage on the sitcom – is used to welcoming musical guests who impersonate more famous acts onto the show, but was stunned to learn the ‘House of Fun’ hitmakers really were making an appearance.
She said: "In ‘Benidorm’, every band is a tribute, so I assumed it was another tribute band and then Derren [Litten, creator and writer] said, ‘No that’s Suggs.’ And I went, ‘What the real one?’ I couldn’t believe it, it’s fantastic isn’t it?"
Lesley Joseph has previously said she’d love a ‘Birds of a Feather’ and ‘Benidorm’ collaborative episode, an idea backed by her co-star Linda Robson, and Sherrie also thinks it would make for great TV.
She said: "It would be brilliant. They’d be the perfect guests to have at the hotel.
"I’m always with Lina and she’s always saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be funny? They could come for a girly holiday."
But that isn’t the only crossover that Sherrie would like to see with her show.
She added to Closer magazine: "Another person who always wants to come on the show is Brendan O’Carroll from ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’. He said to me, ‘Couldn’t we just all come into the hotel and check in as a family.? Even if you take no notice of us and we’re just in the background… It’s lovely so many people want to be on ‘Benidorm’."
