Shayne Ward wants to play Sarah Harding’s bad boy lover on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 30-year-old star – who rose to fame after winning the second series of ‘The X Factor’ – has confessed he would love to play the former Girls Aloud singer’s love interest following the announcement she’s set to appear in four episodes of the ITV soap later this year.
He said: "Everyone says I’d play a good bad boy, I think it’s because of the tattoos.
"I would love to play a bad boy, especially on ‘Coronation Street’.
"I’m not an established actor but I’m willing to learn.
"I heard about Sarah getting a role in the show, people said it might be an April Fool’s Day joke, but I think she’ll be brilliant."
Asked about the possibility of playing Sarah’s on-screen boyfriend, he continued: "I’ve done that kind of thing in videos, I’d be completely up for it, with Sarah or anybody … maybe Rita!"
Shayne was reported to have landed a role on the soap last month and he’s now admitted he did audition for producer Stuart Blackburn but is waiting to hear back.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I was asked about the rumours and I had no idea, that’s the gospel truth.
"Before we knew it, an audition did come in. I couldn’t believe it and neither could my management.
"I thought it was incredible, I’m a massive fan of the show and my mum is a huge fan.
"I think for me it’s just to be associated with it, especially Stuart Blackburn the producer, for him to sit in on the casting, I was over the moon."
