SG Lewis: Calvin Harris is really down to earth

SG Lewis revealed Calvin Harris is "really down to earth".

The Liverpool-based DJ and producer – who has been shortlisted for MTV’s Brand New 2016 – is being mentored by the ‘Outside’ hitmaker after signing to his record label Fly Eye Records and says he found the Scot to be a "nice guy" who simply "loves music".

Speaking at the launch of MTV Brand New with Emporio Armani Diamonds at London’s Tape nightclub, SG exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I went to LA and signed my publishing with Calvin Harris and I was flown out there to meet the guys and do some writing. It was amazing.

"He is so lovely. He’s so down to earth, a really nice guy who loves music."

Whilst there’s no plans for them to work on a track together, the superstar DJ is happy to give Lewis music industry advice.

He continued: "Calvin suggests who I will work with and stuff. We are not working together right now but in the future who knows.

"Meeting Calvin there was an element of being starstruck at first but you very quickly realise he is a normal nice guy and you forget, and very quickly normalise. Then you remember a split second later and are like ‘oh my god it’s Calvin’."

The ‘Warm’ hitmaker is nominated against the likes of ‘Weathered’ singer Jack Garratt, Rudimental collaborator Anne-Marie, ‘Easy Love’ producer Sigala and 19-year-old ‘Sign On’ singer Rat Boy.

The winner of MTV Brand New 2016 will be revealed in February 2016.
