Selma Blair blames flight outburst on ‘psychotic blackout’

Selma Blair has revealed a "psychotic blackout" was to blame for her mid-flight outburst.
Earlier this year, the 44-year-old actress had to be removed from the aircraft after her flight from Mexico to Los Angeles following a bizarre outburst, which she says was caused by mixing her prescribed medication with alcohol.
Speaking to Sharon Osbourne on US chat show The Talk, she said: "I am someone who should never drink, and I rarely do, and I don’t drink anymore, but I was going through something. I had a glass of wine and someone gave me a pill that I thought was something that I’d taken before … it was something completely different … and I had a total psychotic blackout."
The ‘Anger Management’ star – who has five-year-old son Arthur with her ex-partner Jason Bleick – admits that the incident was "out of character" for her and she regrets taking a pill she was given by unnamed person.
She said: "I had empathy for myself because it was so out of character for me especially now that I’m a mother. I was taken to a clinic to get an IV and get an assessment … my son was with his father and he had slept through it … I knew he was going to sleep so that’s why I took this pill … [but] bad choice all around – I totally own it."
Selma previously admitted she was "filled with shame" following the incident, in which she allegedly screamed, "He burns my private parts. He won’t let me eat or drink … He’s going to kill me" in front of other passengers in the First Class section of the plane.
At the time, she said: "I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his dad, I mixed alcohol with medication and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret.
"My son was with his dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologise to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry."
