Selena Gomez yearned to make a ‘sexy’ song


Selena Gomez had been "aching" to make a "sexy" song like ‘Good For You’.

The singer-and-actress made her name starring in Disney show ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ and she was thrilled to get the chance to record her coming-of-age album ‘Revival’ – which featured her naked on the front cover and coincided with her moving out of her childhood home and hiring a new manager to replace her mother Mandy Cornett.

When Selena, 23, found her future smash hit ‘Good For You’ she knew it would be the song to showcase her seductive side and new-found confidence as a grown woman.

The track – which features ASAP Rocky – contains lyrics such as "I’m a Marquise diamond / Could even make that Tiffany jealous, mmm / You say I give it to you hard, so bad, so bad / Make you never wanna leave, I won’t, I won’t" and the video saw Selena writhing around in just a wet white T-shirt and sliding around on the floor in ripped jeans.

Speaking about the song, Selena said: "When I heard that song, I freaked out. I felt confident and comfortable in who I am. I felt sexy. I was aching to do stuff like that."

Although she started her career as an actress and wants to continue making movies, Selena has always been "obsessed" with music.

‘The Big Short’ star told Rolling Stone magazine: "It’s complicated to make an artist out of thin air, and I think the first album was a little bit like that. Not to say that I wasn’t passionate about music. My dad was a DJ, my mom was obsessed with every type of music possible, and I was on ‘Barney’ for two seasons, singing with a purple dinosaur."
