Selena Gomez is fed up of being defined by her boyfriends.
The ‘Hands To Myself’ hitmaker – who is currently dating ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ singer The Weeknd – is reportedly doing all she can to separate herself from her boyfriend.
The brunette beauty made a point of not attending the Grammy Awards with her boyfriend as she wants people to focus on her as an artist rather than have people worry about who she’s dating.
And Selena is also said to be pleading for her ex Justin Bieber – who she dated on and off for a number of years – to move on and stop criticising The Weeknd, TMZ reports.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old singer’s relationship with The Weeknd – real name Abel Tesfaye – is going from strength to strength after she recently spent a whopping $30,000 on a birthday party for her boyfriend.
Selena was unable to attend the party – which was held at Dave & Buster’s in Hollywood – but she went on a romantic yacht trip with her beau to celebrate his birthday privately.
A source said: "Selena looked happy and in a romantic mood. The Weeknd looked happy and very amorous. They were very intimate and looked very much in love."
Whilst another insider added: "They are falling for each other. He has told [Selena] how much he cares for her.
"[They have a] crazy connection. Selena feel really confident. Abel is proud to have Selena by his side …
"He really likes her. They text every day. They have a really sexy and flirty relationship. They laugh and like each others personalities. As of now, they are just having fun and enjoying each other.
"She is happy and doesn’t mind sharing that with the world. Abel makes her feel secure and Selena has nothing to hide. Selena gets passionate about things real fast and that is exactly what she is doing with The Weeknd."
