Selena Gomez ‘glowing’ thanks to spotlight break

Selena Gomez’s mother thinks the star’s brief break from the spotlight has made her "glow".
The 24-year-old singer stepped away from the spotlight last year after suffering from "anxiety, panic attacks and depression" brought on by her lupus condition, and her mother, Mandy Teefey has said her break has worked wonders for her outlook on life.
She said: "[Selena] looks like the sun. I was like, ‘[You’re] a little sun.’"
And asked what she thinks is the cause of Selena’s sun-like glow, Mandy told ‘Entertainment Tonight’ at the premiere of ’13 Reasons Why’: "I think it was actually [from] taking a break. You asked what it is [like] to feel like you’re in this world, we’re in a bubble. It’s not a real world. You don’t really realise it until you go out of this bubble and you’re like, ‘Oh, OK.’
"And you know, with her, when she was becoming famous, I was like, ‘Aren’t you so shocked’ and blah blah? It’s not an arrogant thing, it’s just your day to day, and that’s what becomes your life. Then when you go home, or [when I] go to my husband’s home in the Midwest, you’re like, ‘This isn’t really real.’ That ‘all of this about me’ and, you know, this lifestyle isn’t real."
The news comes after the ‘Heart Wants What It Wants’ hitmaker opened up last year at the American Music Awards – where she picked up the Favourite Female Artist gong – about how her condition had left her feeling "absolutely broken inside" before she decided to take a break.
She revealed: "I think it’s safe to say most of you know my life whether I liked it or not. And I had to stop, because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside, and I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.
"I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s in here. I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore …
The brunette beauty went on to say how "grateful" she is to her "loyal" fans and how much she "cares" about them.
She continued: "All I can say from the bottom of my heart is I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every single day with people that I love, and I have to say thank you so much to my fans, because you guys are so damn loyal, and I don’t know what I did to deserve you. But if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken.
"That’s one thing you should know about me: I care about people. And this is for you."
