Sean Hughes dies

Sean Hughes has died.
The Irish comic – who was best known as a panelist on ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ and for his own sitcom ‘Sean’s Show’ – passed away at the age of 51 on Monday (16.10.17), after suffering a cardiac arrest at London’s Whittington Hospital, where he was being treated for cirrhosis of the liver.
Sean – who was one of the youngest comedians to with the prestigious Perrier Award in 1990 for his ‘A One Night Stand with Sean Hughes’ show – last tweeted on October 8.
He simply wrote: "In hospital."
His former promoter, Richard Bucknall, paid tribute to the star.
He told Beyond the Joke: "He was a pioneering, groundbreaking comedian who changed comedy with that live show."
A host of stars from the comedy world have paid tribute to Sean, who was single, on social media.
Jason Manford wrote: "Very sad to hear about Sean Hughes. A brilliant comic and a lovely bloke. RIP."
And Al Murray posted: "Terribly sad news about Sean Hughes."
Jarlath Regan‏ wrote: "Seàn Hughes has died and I’m fucking heartbroken. So funny on stage, so infuriating to know and so sad he’s gone. #RIPSeanHughes"
David Schneider‏ tweeted: "So sad about Sean Hughes. Such an engagingly funny man."
And Richard Herring simply shared: "Sean Hughes. What a punch in the soul that is."
