Scarlett Moffatt: Television is ‘difficult’

Scarlett Moffatt has learnt how "difficult" television is since being on ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’.
The 26-year-old presenter admits it was "much easier" being on ‘Gogglebox’ criticising other people on the box, but working on the ITV has made her realise how easy she had it on the Channel 4 show.
Speaking ahead of Saturday night’s (08.04.17) special episode of ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’, which will be live from Disneyland World Resort in Florida with Virgin Holidays, she admitted: "Obviously it’s so much easier commenting on how other people are on TV. I’ve learnt a lot since then. It’s so weird because I watched an old ‘Gogglebox’ back the other day and it doesn’t even feel like that’s me when I watch it back. I was like ‘why are you saying that?’ because now that I’m on TV I realise just how difficult it is. When you just watch it you don’t realise all the hours and work that goes into it. Even when I watched the jungle back, I’d think ‘it can’t be that bad’ and now I’ve done it I realise how difficult it can be."
Despite the big task of this Saturday’s show being in America, Scarlett says nothing can beat the nerves she had on her first ever episode of the entertainment programme.
Asked which she felt more pressure for, she said:
"Obviously I get a little bit nervous, because nerves show that you care. But I never feel under pressure from anybody other than myself because I want to do well and I want to do the boys proud. But the first episode was so nerve wracking because it was completely unknown to me."
However, Ant and Dec are very supportive of the former queen of the jungle – who won 2016’s ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ – and they particularly help her when she has technical issues.
Asked to describe her relationship with the Geordie duo, she said: "I would say that we’re pals! They’re really helpful. They help me in every aspect, whether it’s just friendly banter or with work. With this they’ve help me a lot with the technical aspect. "
Ant, 41, realises it’s a huge task and they are worried about the Californian heat as the show will be live outside, but he’s confident the team can do a great job.
He said: "It’s a huge undertaking but that’s what we aim to do with this show every year – push the boundaries of what can be done. Walt Disney World also have a fantastic team and are incredibly well equipped and experienced at putting on big shows. It’s going to be 27 degrees, humid and the whole show will be outside in the daytime, so it will certainly feel very different!
‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ comes live from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida with Virgin Holidays on Saturday 8th April at 7pm on ITV."
