Sam Smith hasn’t listened to Radiohead’s Spectre song

Sam Smith hasn’t listened to Radiohead’s alternative ‘Spectre’ theme song.

The 23-year-old singer provided the official title track, ‘Writing’s On The Wall’, for the James Bond film after producers picked it over the other potential songs, which included the indie band’s effort.

Although Radiohead – fronted by Thom Yorke – unveiled their song on their SoundCloud page on Christmas Day (25.12.16), Sam has resisted the urge to check it out.

He was asked for his opinion on Thom’s decision to share the track during a press conference following his Golden Globe win for Best Original Song for his Bond theme.

At first he questioned who Thom was, quizzically saying: "Thom Yorke?

When his songwriting partner Jimmy Napes informed him who Thom was, Sam then answered by saying: "Yes, I was a little bit surprised. Not going to lie, but I haven’t listened to it personally because I did the (official) ‘Spectre’ theme song."

As well as uploading the song on SoundCloud, ‘Creep’ hitmaker Thom posted the message: "Last year we were asked to write a theme tune for the Bond movie ‘Spectre’. Yes we were. It didn’t work out, but became something of our own, which we love very much."
