Sally Dynevor was ‘shy’ during Coronation Street early days

Sally Dynevor kept her "head down" during her early days on ‘Coronation Street’ because she didn’t think she would be "staying very long".
The 56-year-old Weatherfield legend has been a force on the cobbles as Sally Metcalfe for nearly 35 years now, but she initially expected to just "do my job and be off".
She said: "I think I was really shy the first few months. I kept my head down and didn’t say very much. Did as I was told.
"I didn’t think I was going to be staying very long, so I thought I’d just do my job and be off.
"But my contract got extended and extended."
Sally admits she is loving her time on the cobbles just as much as when she first started on the soap in 1986.
Asked if she is enjoying her time on ‘Corrie’, she said: "I absolutely am – as much as I did when I started.
"You pick up a new script and get excited all over again.
"It’s just been a brilliant roller coaster time. I’m loving it, and I feel very lucky to be doing it."
Sally admits she would depart Weatherfield if she wasn’t enjoying her time on the ITV soap, but she hasn’t needed to yet, and thinks the viewers have taken the character to their hearts partly because she is "a bit daft".
The star added to Inside Soap magazine: "She’s a bit daft, and people can relate to her.
"She makes daft decisions and says daft things, but I think the viewers know deep down that she has a good heart, that she’s a good person.
"There’s a mixture of comedy and tragedy in her life."
