Sally Dynevor shocked Corrie castmates with Everest trek

Sally Dynevor shocked her ‘Coronation Street’ castmates with her Everest trek.
The ITV soap star – who plays Sally Metcalfe in the show – thinks her castmates would find it crazy that she scaled the highest mountain in the world because she is such a "wimp" when it comes to filming in the cold on the cobbles.
She said: "I’m the wimpiest person on the ‘Coronation Street’ set when we’re filming outside, so none of the cast and crew could believe I was going to Everest. It was absolutely freezing so I ended up sleeping in every single piece of clothing I had with me. Sometimes I’d wake up trying to catch my breath. I felt a bit frightened but I knew I just needed to calm down. I was really lucky that I didn’t suffer from altitude sickness. It was really hard going, though. As we got closer to Kala Patthar, which is one day away from Base Camp, it was a huge effort every time I took a step. I’ve never ever been that exhausted."
Sally took part in the challenge to raise money for breast cancer awareness and admits it was tough being away from her family.
She added: "The higher we got and the colder it became, I felt very lonely. I sometimes just wanted to be at home. I really missed my husband Tim and it was so hard not being there for our daughter Hattie’s 16th birthday. When we neared the top, I shed a little tear for my friend Morag, who we lost a few years ago."
The 56-year-old actress – who has raised a whopping £117,000 for the Prevent Breast Cancer – charity admits it is one of the most "amazing" things she has done.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she shared: "I’m so glad I did it. The local people were so warm and welcoming, the views of Everest at sundown were spectacular and I’ve made friends for life. It’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done … It has drawn a huge line under my own breast cancer experience. It made me realise I’m stronger than I think I am. I’m ready for the next chapter."
