Sally Dynevor says Corrie character could turn to Gail Rodwell

Sally Dynevor has hinted her ‘Coronation Street’ character Sally Metcalfe could turn to Gail Rodwell for advice if she faces jail time.
The ‘Corrie’ star’s alter-ego may be sent to prison following her arrest on suspicion of fraud after conman Duncan Radfield (Nicholas Gleaves) tricked her out of £40,000 from the mayor’s charity fund – and Gail (Helen Worth) could give her neighbour some tips about prison life if Sal is incarcerated.
Asked if Sally could turn to Gail – who was previously jailed after being accused of killing Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale) – the actress told BANG Showbiz: "That’s a really good question because I really hope so, I’d love some more stuff with Gail.
"There was a scene that Helen and I had ages ago with some drugs and I say, ‘Well you’ve got to give them back to the police because I’m middle class, I can’t go to jail, I wouldn’t get a decent roll of toilet paper!’
"I really want to play that scene again because it was a really lovely moment where she was like, ‘Oh yeah, you couldn’t go to jail.’
"I would love some more scenes with Gail, she’d be able to tell her a few things, wouldn’t she?"
It’s certainly a tough time for Sally on the cobbles, and the 55-year-old star admitted she has sympathy for how the events have unfolded for her "naive" character.
She explained: "I just feel really sorry for her, I think, ‘Oh my God, this is awful. How is she going to get out of this?’ When I just can’t see a way out for her."
Sally will be falsely accused of being the mastermind behind Duncan’s scam to get funds from the council, and she will be arrested on Friday’s (10.08.18) double episode during the Speed Daal family day celebrations.
Duncan engages the services of solicitors Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) after claiming he was the victim of Sally’s plotting.
However, he has duped Sally by pretending he was setting up a charity foundation in memory of his late wife.
The Weatherfield gossip queen helped him to get a grant from the council, but only realised she had been tricked when it was too late.
