Sally Carman doubts Corrie romance would work

Sally Carman doesn’t think a romance between Abi Franklin and Kevin Webster would work.
The 38-year-old soapstar – who plays Abi Franklin – doubts her character will sparked up a successful romance with Kevin (Michael Le Vell) following the pair’s latest storyline.
Next week’s episodes will see Kevin provide Abi with an albi after she torched boyfriend Ray Crosby’s car in a state of revenge following his mistreatment of women.
Kevin’s touching offer delights Abi, and the pair end up spending the night together but Sally has doubts about their longterm relationship.
When asked if she thinks the pair could make it work, she said: "No I don’t think so and that’s why it’s a brilliant storyline because they are so different so there are excellent opportunities to create drama from that but I’m not sure they can have a happily ever after."
The former ‘Shameless’ star explained the characters are too different to live happily ever after as she thinks Kevin wouldn’t be able to handle Abi’s wild ways.
She continued: "Abi is chalk to his cheese, she’s younger, she’s unsettled, her motives for wanting to be with him are genuine and true but I don’t think they’re planted in true love. She’s picking someone who’s good to her, she’s trying to better herself and she’s really trying to create a settled life.
"Kevin ticks that box but she’s also passionate and a bit wild and I don’t think that will disappear just because she starts to get her life together. She’s fiery and Kevin isn’t, he’s much more middle of the road, happy with his lot in life. Abi’s got spark and I’m not sure Kevin will be able to handle that fire."
However, it hasn’t stopped the character from developing some feelings for the mechanic as his generosity has made Abi look at him in a new light.
Asked if Abi is interested in Kevin, Sally added: "He’s solid, dependable, he never lets her down and she’s sick of men who get you up the duff and do one in her words. This has absolutely given her food for thought."
