Ryan Thomas reportedly threatened to pull out of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ after discovering Dan Osborne has also signed up for the show.
The 34-year-old actor – who is best known for playing the part of Jason Grimshaw on ‘Coronation Street’ – is said to have had second thoughts about appearing on the programme after he learned that Dan, who is the ex-boyfriend of his current girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh, is also slated to appear.
A source told The Sun Online: "Ryan Thomas threatened to pull out of the show when he heard Dan Osborne was going in because he used to go out with Lucy Mecklenburgh.
"He was playing hardball and saying it was either Dan or him, but ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ bosses stood firm and he eventually backed down. Now they’re both doing it.
"Ryan hates the fact he’ll have to share such a small space with someone from Lucy’s past.
"It’s awkward and has been a rough start to his experience. It’ll be interesting to see now how they both react once they meet inside the house."
However, the former soap star is being handsomely rewarded for his time in the house as he’s one of this year’s most high-profile contestants.
The insider added: "At least Ryan’s getting a huge wedge of cash. He’s a big name, so Channel 5 have paid through the nose."
Dan, 27, dated Lucy during his time on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ in 2013.
