Naya Rivera’s son spent Christmas with his father Ryan Dorsey.
The former ‘Glee’ star and the ‘Blood Father’ actor are currently going through a divorce after Naya was arrested for misdemeanour domestic battery earlier this month, but the 34-year-old dad made sure to make a fuss of their two-year-old boy Josey over the festive period, despite the family’s current predicament.
Sharing a selfie of the pair posing in front of a giant snowman on Christmas Day (25.12.17) on Instagram, Ryan wrote: "Happy Holidays (sic)"
The ‘Shameless’ star said he’s "thankful" for his little boy as he wished his followers all the best for the new year.
Sharing a series of photographs in a video montage of the father and son posing by their Christmas tree, Ryan added: "#Winter17 Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, & wishing you all a happier & healthier Happy New Year from them Dorsey dudes. I’m so thankful for this little dude, my main man, the sweetest boy I know. (sic)"
Naya recently refiled for divorce from Ryan – two months after she withdrew her previous papers.
The 30-year-old actress was was arrested after she allegedly struck her estranged spouse over the head and in the mouth during a walk with Josey in West Virginia.
Court papers obtained by TMZ.com stated that Naya made the move to submit legal documents to restart the termination of their marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences".
The refiling came just two months after Naya called off their divorce proceedings when the pair – who wed in 2014 – reconciled following their split in November 2016.
According to the newly filed papers, Naya is seeking joint custody of Josey, and also wants the court to block either of them from getting spousal support.
Ryan previously posted a statement about the alleged domestic battery incident on his social media accounts, where he asked for "positivity and love" during this "difficult time".
He wrote: "This is a difficult time for everyone in the family especially for Naya and I. This isn’t some reality show, this is our life, and I ask that everyone especially the media please respect our privacy and treat us/this situation how you would want a loved one to be treated. Perhaps with kindness, respect, without judgment, and as negative a situation this is, with positivity and love. Thanks."
After papers were filed in 2016, they released a joint statement in which they said they would continue to be "great co-parenting partners" for their son.
The statement read: "After much consideration, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Our priority is and always will be our beautiful son that we share together. We will continue to be great co-parenting partners for him. We ask for respect and privacy for our family during this difficult time."
