Russell Howard praises wife for returning to NHS frontline

Russell Howard is "immensely proud" of his wife for returning to the NHS.
The 40-year-old comedian – who is living with his parents during the coronavirus pandemic because of his partner’s job – has opened up about how his other half Cerys Morgan was supposed to take time off to tour with him, but due to the ongoing health crisis she has gone back to work.
Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on Friday’s (17.04.20) episode of ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: "My wife was having six months off as a doctor.
"As soon as the crisis happened, she went straight back to work … [the distance is] just incredibly tough.
"I’m just immensely proud of her, of all of [the NHS workers]. She’s got lots of friends who are doctors and nurses and they just crack on."
He described his wife’s career as a "calling" rather than a job, and insisted he "couldn’t be prouder" of the work she is doing.
Russell added: "This is what they do, they get up, they go to work, they look after people.
"It’s not really a job to be a healthcare professional, it’s a calling and they all have such empathy and wisdom, I couldn’t be prouder."
Russell is hosting topical programme ‘Home Time’ for Sky One during the coronavirus lockdown, and he admitted there are some "weird" moments performing without a live audience.
He recently explained: "I had to get these lights up to make a studio and had to figure out how Zoom worked, but I guess we’re all on that journey and then just writing on your own really, and not having an audience to let you know whether it’s funny.
"In my head, even if they don’t laugh, it’s still raising money for charity. It’s weird telling a joke and waiting for the audience. You can’t ad-lib from a reaction in a crowd.
"It’s made me really miss live comedy and I think it’s going to be a while before we can get out there but this will do."
