Duke and Duchess of Cambridge donate £5K to flood victims

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge donated £5,000 to the flood victims of Rhyl.
The royal couple, who used to live in Anglesey, gave the generous amount to the Rhyl Flood Appeal after 150 homes in Wales were destroyed during the battering storms in December.
The mayor of Rhyl, Andrew Rutherford, said he was "gobsmacked" to receive the private donation from William and Catherine.
He said a letter sent on behalf of the pair read: "The Duke and Duchess realise that it is a long, slow and painful process for the many people displaced from their homes and as a token of their support, and to show the people of Rhyl that they are in their thoughts, Their Royal Highnesses would like to make a personal donation to your Rhyl Town Mayor's Flood Appeal."
Many families are still living in temporary accommodation while repairs are being carried out on their properties.
At the time, Andrew said other families, who initially thought they had escaped the floods, had since discovered the sea water had damaged the building foundations.
He said in December: "All the water that has gone over has actually gone under their houses and they have had to have their foundations taken up.
"A couple of them have had to move out so that they can have their footings replaced and floorboards done.
"So we are still getting snippets about people who are being affected, even now, so it's quite hard."

Queen’s former gynaecologist knighted

Queen Elizabeth's former gynaecologist has been knighted by Prince William.
Sir Marcus Setchell, who delivered William and Duchess Catherine's first child Prince George last July, was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by the tot's father today (18.03.14).
Marcus was knighted for his services to the royal family over the years in a ceremony that took place at Buckingham Palace in London.
The queen's gynaecologist had attended to the 87-year-old monarch for 24 years and delivered numerous royal babies before retiring from the medical profession at the end of last year.
After being knighted, Marcus described delivering young Prince George as a "lovely experience" and said overseeing the team who helped deliver the royal baby was a wonderful way to end his career.
Sir Marcus is quoted by the Daily Telegraph newspaper as saying: "It's a great honour and it's very nice that I was able to serve her for 24 years and that the culmination of it was that Prince George should be born.
"Being a gynaecologist and obstetrician must be one of the nicest jobs in the world.
"I think even after doing this job for 40 years every birth is exciting, moving and lovely."
Quizzed about his conversation with William, Marcus says he was given an update on Prince George.
He said: "He did make some remarks about what a bouncing baby George is now."

Prince Charles visit Edible Garden Show

Britain's Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla are to make an appearance at the Edible Garden Show next week.
The royal couple - who got married in 2005 - are set to attend the event, which lasts three days, and is held at Alexandra Palace in London to promote healthy eating.
Charles, 65, who is a keen gardener, will greet children from across the country, who have taken part in the national schools' initiative to design a "dream edible garden".
The event will have a number of celebrity speakers, interactive advice sessions, cookery lessons, and a range of produce available to ensure everyone is getting a taste of the good life.
The Edible Garden Show, which was launched in response to the grow-your-own revolution, has been running for four years, but this will be the first time it is being held at Alexandra Palace.
Meanwhile, the prince has devoted 30 years to overseeing the greenery at Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire, England, and runs his own competition named Mygrove, where youngsters can win a trip to the garden.
The duke is also a campaigner for wildlife and his charity, Prince Charles' Countryside Fund, recently donated £50,000 from its emergency fund to help farmers in Somerset following the recent flooding, which destroyed many homes.
The Edible Garden Show takes place from 28 March - 30 March.

Cressida Bonas’ step-father died from drug overdose

Cressida Bonas' step-father died of a drug overdose.
Christopher Shaw was found dead at his rented home in Wiltshire in January and toxicology tests have now revealed the former banker's death was caused by an overdose on prescription pills.
Friends and family of Christopher, 76, were left devastated by his passing and faced several agonising weeks to find out how he died.
An inquest in Salisbury, Wiltshire, was told a post mortem examination had shown his death was not natural and he was found dead at the scene by his housekeeper Nicola Smith.
Christopher - who was once known for his millionaire lifestyle - was reportedly struggling with financial problems, but appeared to be in good spirits in the days leading up to his death as he had just returned from a holiday in Cuba.
He began dating Cressida's mother Lady Mary Gaye Curzon in 1994 and the pair were together for six years - four years as a married couple - before they divorced in 2000.
A friend said previously: "Cressida was five when they got together and 11 when it all went wrong so Christopher would have been a strong presence in her childhood life."

Cressida Bonas moves into flat near Harry

Britain's Prince Harry's girlfriend has moved into a flat near him.
Cressida Bonas has found herself a swanky apartment in Shepherd's Bush, near Kensington, in London so she can be closer to her beau, who resides at Kensington Palace.
A source told HELLO! magazine: "Cress loves the area and likes to go to the Havelock Tavern, which is the actress Carey Mulligan's local.
"She and her friend Daisy have been hunting for somewhere nice and cheap but also close to Kensington Palace. Kensington is far too expensive, so she went for the closest area that was affordable.
"It's just two stops [on the tube] from Notting Hill Gate, which is the station she uses when she goes to see Harry."
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old royal has been smitten with Cressida, 25, since they began dating almost two years ago, but a friend of the socialite claims she won't be moving in with Harry any time soon.
The source said: "[Cressida] has no intention of living with Harry just yet, despite what people have been saying."
However, it seems the pair are keen to step their relationship up to the next level after rumours began to swirl recently, which suggested Harry was gearing up to pop the question to his lover.
A source said previously: "First he needs to go through certain royal protocols, such as asking his grandmother's permission."

Sarah Ferguson and Andrew happiest divorced couple

Britain's Sarah Ferguson thinks her and ex-husband Prince Andrew could be the "happiest divorced couple in the world".
The Duchess of York, who has two children with Andrew, Beatrice, 26, and Eugenie, 24, divorced the 54-year-old royal in 1996 after ten years of marriage but insists they have remained "loyal" to each other.
Talking about recent rumours they could be set to re-marry, Sarah said: "I think the rumours have been there for 20 years. We live in a world where everybody believes in fairytales and they need the inspiration of fairytales.
"I believe this modern-day fairytale at this moment is in the most perfect place because Prince Andrew and I have two of the most outstanding girls, we communicate better than ever and we show great respect and loyalty to each other."
She added to HELLO! Magazine: "So, therefore, I think that we are in the right place right now."
The 54-year-old royal was reportedly reluctant to split from Andrew but said they have remained loyal to each other "through thick and thin".
She continued: "From the day we got married to now, we've always upheld the same belief in each other. We are trailblazing on being the happiest divorced couple in the world. It is unusual, but we are unusual."
Sarah is currently single, while Andrew has been linked to George Clooney's ex-girlfriend, model Monika Jakisic, but the duchess isn't desperate to find a partner.
She added: "I can't really answer questions about the future because I live so much in the present, for the excitement of today."

Fake Prince Harry cons workman out of £23k

A fraudster has conned a man out of £23,000 after he posed as Britain's Prince Harry on Facebook.
The conman promised a workman a multi-million pound contract to renovate the parquet floors at Buckingham Palace in London.
As part of the deal, he told the floorfitter, who is from Austria, to transfer £23,000 into several UK bank accounts, claiming it was a 'necessary' step in order to set up a British business.
However, after transferring the money and not hearing back from the online account with the username Prince Harry, the workman contacted the Austrian police on Friday (14.03.14).
The victim paid €2,500 into a Lloyds TSB bank account, before being told to pay a "security deposit" of €22,000 and then a final installment of €3,000.
The authorities in Burgenland, Austria, have since told the man that his chances of recovering his money are very "slim".
Meanwhile, this isn't the first time the 30-year-old royal has fallen victim to identity theft as in 2010 another conman posed as the flame-haired Prince and tricked 20 woman into transferring money into a West Africa bank account..
The conman asked the ladies, from the US, to donate cash, claiming the money was going to a charity working with orphans in Africa.

Sarah Ferguson was ‘drowning in food’ before weight loss

Britain's Sarah Ferguson felt like she was "drowning in food" before she lost 42lbs.
The Duchess of York decided to drop the extra pounds after realising she was close to the weight she was when she was heavily pregnant with her first child Princess Beatrice 25 years ago.
She told HELLO! magazine: "Beatrice was an 8lb 8oz baby and I was only 6lb off my full-blown pregnancy weight. I decided to make a change. I used to be so angry - I believed that I had lost control. I couldn't fit into any of my clothes.
"I was just drowning in eating, drowning in food. It took courage to go out in public in all the years I have been overweight."
The 54-year-old royal - who was 224 pounds at her heaviest - took part in a gruelling daily boot camp session on a Swiss mountain resort, and managed to drop the weight in just five months.
She has also cut out sugar and maintained a healthy diet.
Meanwhile, the flame-haired beauty - who was once an ambassador for Weight Watchers - has become an official envoy for the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London.
She said: "I want to help combat obesity."
