Men jailed for insulting Thai royal family

Two men have been jailed for insulting the Thai royal family in a university play.
Patiwat Saraiyaem, 23, and Porntip Mankong, 26, were each sentenced to two and a half years behind bars yesterday (23.02.15) after admitting to defamation under the country's controversial lese majeste law following their arrest last August.
The pair had originally been sentenced to five years in prison each for allegedly insulting Thailand's royal family in a satirical play titled 'The Wolf Bride', which was performed at Bangkok's Thammasat University, but had their terms reduced after confessing to the crime.
A judge at Ratchada Criminal Court in the capital city said: "The court considers their role in the play caused serious damage to the monarcy and sees no reason to suspend their sentences."
The men were each charged with one count of lese majeste linked to the play, which was put on to mark the 40th anniversary of a pro-democracy student protest at the university that was stopped by the military regime in October 1973.
Patiwat and Porntip's lawyer, Pawinee Chumsri, said they "would not appeal" the ruling, the Guardian newspaper reports.
Thai police are also said to be looking for at least six other individuals involved in the performance for allegedly violating the feared "112" section of the country's criminal code, which carries sentences of up to 15 years for each count of insulting the king, queen, heir or regent.

Princess Beatrice moves to America

Britain's Princess Beatrice has moved to America.
The 26-year-old royal has jetted across the pond to enrol in a finance course, which started yesterday (23.02.15), a spokesperson for her mother, Sarah, the Duchess of York told People magazine.
It is not yet known at what educational establishment or in what city Beatrice is to study finance, however, by making the move to the United States she has followed in the footsteps of her younger sister Princess Eugenie, 24, who lived in New York's Manhattan in 2013 while working at Paddle 8 auction house.
The flame-haired royal's move comes just weeks after it was confirmed she had left her job at Sony Europe, with the cyber attack that took place on the company's server stated as a "contributory reason" for her leaving the $30,000-a-year post as coordinating producer.
Beatrice - who has a degree in history and the history of ideas from London's Goldsmith College - has since been enjoying a number of holidays with her long-term boyfriend Dave Clark in destinations including Verbier, Switzerland and the Caribbean.

Duchess Camilla flushing toxins

Britain's Duchess of Cornwall has reportedly been having lymph-draining massages.
The 67-year-old royal is said to have been indulging in the £45 treatments described as "the manual way to have liposuction" in order to speed up her lymphatic system, which in turn is meant to flush out toxins, banish fluid retention and flatten a bloated stomach.
The procedure can also help to firm the skin and reduce cellulite with clients losing up to four pounds at a time, although it is said Duchess Camilla has no intention of trying to lose weight.
Beauty therapist Debora Mitchell is reportedly treating Camilla - who is married to Prince Charles - at her Clarence House home.
A therapist for her skincare company Heaven told the Daily Mail newspaper: "The treatment involves a full body massage with movements designed to speed up the lymphatic system as lymph responds to movement. It can become particularly sluggish as we mature, but with this firm massage the body becomes more sculpted as well as slimmer.
"You can really lose weight, as well as fluid. Our slimming lymph drain massage is known as the manual way to have liposuction and you can lose up to 4lb per treatment.
"A course of five is recommended, with a treatment at least once a week to help achieve your ideal weight goal. The massage can also help to relieve flu, allergies, fluid retention, digestion problems, arthritis, rheumatism, IBS and flatten a bloated tummy."
The Duchess is also said to be a fan of Debora's bee-sting facials, described as Botox in a jar, which stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin.

Prince Harry quitting job as Apache pilot

Britain's Prince Harry will no longer fly combat helicopters.
The 30-year-old royal, who previously claimed piloting Apaches was "the best experience ever", has reportedly decided to quit the job to focus on his work with injured troops.
The flame-haired Prince - who previously served two tours of duty in Afghanistan - had been expected to return to his duties in the Army Air Corps but is reported by The Sun newspaper to have changed his mind due to the training and desk-work that would've been required for him to be promoted to a squadron commander.
Harry is believed to have told his superiors that he wants to continue working for the Ministry of Defence's Defence Recovery Capability scheme to help soldiers get back to duty or return to civilian life.
Meanwhile, it's been reported that the Prince - who recently enjoyed a holiday to the Swedish capital of Stockholm with a group of pals - has been dating 'Harry Potter' actress Emma Watson.
However, the 24-year-old beauty has taken to her Twitter account to deny the rumours.
Suggesting the publication that claimed the pair were seeing one another had printed inaccurate information, Emma wrote: "WORLD remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?! (sic)"

Prince Charles sends handwritten letter to volunteer

Britain's Prince Charles sent a handwritten letter of apology to a disabled volunteer.
The 66-year-old royal typed a letter to Jamie Over, from Northamptonshire, to congratulate him on being shortlisted for a Prince's Young Achiever award for his voluntary work but went on to handwrite a note of apology after the mail got lost.
The message reads: "I am sorry this letter is so belated - unfortunately it got held up somewhere in my office. Yours most sincerely, Charles."
The letter from Highgrove House was sent after the 27-year-old wrote to the heir to the throne to outline how his volunteer work has helped him to overcome barriers such as Asperger's Syndrome and unemployment.
Jamie told the Northants Herald and Post newspaper: "I never thought I would ever get a response, then to get two letters in a matter of a week from Prince Charles' Private Secretary and then one from Prince Charles was quite touching and has now given me an even bigger boost to keep achieving."
Jamie now has now landed a full-time job after gaining confidence and experience working at coffee mornings for older residents living in the local area.

Prince Charles continues as Patron of North of England Horticulture Society

Britain's Prince Charles is to continue as Patron of the North of England Horticulture Society (NEHS) for the next five years.
The Prince of Wales became patron of the organisation, which was established in 1911 and organises two flower shows a year in Harrogate, Yorkshire, in 2010 and is to maintain the title for the next half-decade.
NEHS chairman Chris Smith said: "We are honoured to have HRH The Prince of Wales as our Patron and delighted that he has agreed to continue as an ambassador for the society.
"His knowledge of horticulture and passion for gardening are second to none, and we look forward to working with him to further develop the important role the NEHS plays in supporting and promoting horticulture in the north."
Meanwhile, the charity's president Lucinda Compton is also set to continue in her role until 2017 years following her successful two-year run.
Smith added to the Harrogate Advertiser newspaper: "Lucinda has done tremendous work in furthering the cause of the NEHS and is a valued member of our team.
"We are delighted that she has agreed to continue as President for two more years."
In 2014 the NEHS funded more than 30 gardening projects, ranging from growing vegetables at schools for food banks to the restoration of war memorials.

Emma Watson denies claims she’s dating Prince Harry

Emma Watson has denied claims she's dating Britain's Prince Harry.
The 24-year-old actress has taken to her Twitter account in an apparent bid to shoot down rumours she's being romanced by the flame-haired royal.
She wrote: "WORLD Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?! (sic)"
However, the 'Harry Potter' star went on to admit she's not opposed to being a princess but insisted she doesn't need to date a member of the royal family in order to achieve that goal.
Posting a link to a clip from Alfonso Cuaron's 1995 film 'A Little Princess' titled 'All Girls Are Princesses', she wrote: "also.....marrying a Prince not a prerequisite for being a Princess. (sic)"
The brunette beauty's comments come after it was reported the pair had been enjoying a number of secret dates following her split from rugby player Matthew Janney last year.
Claiming Harry, 30, invited twelve of their mutual friends along so Emma didn't feel too uncomfortable, Australia's Women's Day magazine reported a source as saying: "Harry didn't want her to feel like she was put on the spot.
"A party also shows he's fun and not stuffy ... He's smitten - and it's more than Emma's looks."

Sarah Ferguson takes to Fashion For Relief catwalk

Sarah Ferguson took to the catwalk for the Fashion For Relief show yesterday (19.02.15).
The Duchess of York strutted her stuff on the runway at the event, which was put on to raise money for Ebola victims, at London's Somerset House to launch London Fashion Week and received a great reception.
The 55 year old was cheered on as she strolled down the catwalk in a floor-length black shirt and a black top and appeared to be thoroughly enjoying herself as she stretched her arms out wide, pointed at herself and threw her arms around in a circle, all with a huge grin on her face.
When she got to the end of the runway she pulled off the standard model pose of one hand on her hip to perfection and turned to walk back.
Following the show, Sarah took to her Twitter account to personally thank Naomi for helping to put on the spectacle.
She wrote: "#FashionForRelief #london An amazing cause to support the fight against Ebola. Thank you @NaomiCampbell
"Help fight Ebola #FashionForRelief @ChildrenCrisis (sic)"
Naomi also took to the catwalk in a glittering gold outfit and fellow model Jourdan Dunn also wowed on the runway in a number of outfits, including a metallic checked minidress.
One of the main attractions of the night was the sight of former model Katie Price dressed in a black suit complete with black bow tie on the runway, while singer Pixie Lott sported a pair of fluffy rabbit ears.
Legendary fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood also walked the catwalk at the event.
