Royal outfits to go on display

A dress worn by Britain’s Princess Diana is set to go on display at Kensington Palace.

The green velvet sleeveless gown – which was worn during the late royal’s photoshoot with Mario Testino – will be shown as part of ‘Fashion Rules: Restyled’, organised by the charity Historic Royal Palaces.

The photoshoot was commissioned to help auction off some of the late Princess’ outfits for charity in June 1997, only two months before she tragically died.

The new fashion exhibition will also show outfits from over the years, belonging to Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret.

Libby Thompson, Historic Royal Palaces curator, told the Mail Online: "Fashion Rules has proved popular with our visitors, and we’re delighted to be able to expand on this theme to celebrate the style evolution of three iconic modern royal women.

"The new display will delve even deeper into the royal wardrobe, revealing some real surprises that I hope will challenge the way we think of royal style."

The dresses placed on display have been acquired by the Historic Royal Palaces – who look after the royal residences in the UK – or have been lent by the royal family.

The exhibition ‘Fashion Rules: Restyled’ opens on February 11 at Kensington Palace, London.
