Ross Kemp affected by ‘dark moments’ while filming documentaries

Ross Kemp admits he has been "affected" by the dark moments he has experienced while filming his documentaries.
The 54-year-old actor – who has made six series of his BAFTA award-winning documentary series ‘Ross Kemp: Extreme World’, among other factual programmes – says filming hard-hitting material can be difficult.
When asked at The Sun’s Military Awards at Banqueting House in London last night (14.12.18) if he gets affected by dark moments, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I would be lying to say it hasn’t affected me.
"I think the whole point about what I do and the way that I do it is that I show the audience what I’m feeling and hopefully that creates some kind of symmetry between me and the audience.
"I don’t stand there and go, ‘Oh that was a bullet that just missed my head.’
"I go, ‘That was close,’ because it was and that’s how I react to it.
"Being honest and wearing your heart on your sleeve brings the audience closer to what I’m feeling and what I’m seeing."
The TV star added that he is currently busy filming an upcoming documentary for ITV, in which he will be going to "interesting danger zones around the world".
He said: "I can’t say what It’s called but I’m doing a documentary and I’m going to be living with people, certain people in this country who are in I would say are in interesting times of their lives.
"I’m looking forward to it, I love travelling as well, I like going to interesting danger zones around the world."
In 2004, the former ‘EastEnders’ actor filmed ‘Ross Kemp on Gangs’ – a documentary series exploring the impact of modern gang culture in the UK and around the world.
He followed this up with the documentaries ‘Ross Kemp in Afghanistan’, ‘Ross Kemp in Search of Pirates’, ‘Ross Kemp: Battle for the Amazon’ and ‘Ross Kemp: Extreme World’.
