Rosemary Shrager lands new cooking show

Rosemary Shrager has landed her own cooking show on Netflix.
The streaming giant picked up ‘The Big Family Cooking Showdown’ – which was axed by BBC Two in 2018 – and has given Rosemary, 69, a new series after the popular show proved a big hit with the streaming service’s viewers.
She will head to California to film the show alongside two other chefs, who will oversee the contestants as they cook up dishes.
According to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, the new cooking series is yet to be named, but is set to be released later this year.
The BBC cookery series – which also starred Giorgio Locatelli, Zoe Ball and former ‘Great British Bake Off’ champion Nadiya Hussain – was dropped after bosses reportedly grew concerned when viewing figures had a near 400,000 slump in the three weeks following the launch episode.
The programme featured two teams of three family members competing in a trio of challenges, with the winner of each of the eight heats progressing to the semi-finals and then the final before a winner was chosen.
It received around 1.7 million for its launch show, but dropped the following week when the next episode was watched by just 1.34 million after that week’s ‘The Great British Bake Off’ episode was seen by 6.5 million.
Nadiya later quit the show after one series in order to focus on her own venture.
The baker said at the time: "I really enjoyed presenting, but I’m now focusing on getting back to my own love of cooking for my new series… I wish the team the very best."
