Ronnie Corbett laid to rest

Ronnie Corbett was laid to rest today (18.04.16).
Several stars from the world of TV, including Sir Michael Parkinson and Harry Hill, gathered at St John the Evangelist Church in Shirley, Surrey, south east England, to pay their respects to the late comedian, who passed away on March 31 aged 85 after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease a year earlier.
David Walliams, Barry Cryer, and Rob Brydon were among the stars who attended the service, as well as Jimmy Tarbuck, who paid tribute to comedy great.
He said: "He was a short guy, but he was a giant comic.
"He was much loved. [A] very correct guy, very funny fellow. Disciplinarian – I think that was because he was an officer in the RAF. But he was great company.
"I mean he was a terrific laugh. Dreadful giggler. He used to get me at it when we worked together."
Fans applauded as Ronnie’s coffin was carried into the church, and he was later carried out of building to his own recording of ‘Up’s The Only Way To Go’.
His trademark black-rimmed spectacles were placed on top of a wreath on his coffin, which was decorated with touching messages and flowers.
Ronnie’s widow Anne had sparked fears she might not be well enough to make the funeral after a health scare when the 82 year old was rushed to the A&E department of London’s Croydon University Hospital last night (17.04.16) to undergo tests, but she recovered for the funeral.
However, Sir Bruce Forsyth, 88, was unable to attend as he is still recovering from keyhole surgery.
Ronnie was best known for his work alongside late comedy sidekick Ronnie Barker as The Two Ronnies.
Following his death, it has been reported that he was in line to receive a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth.
