Roman Kemp: UK will be tough for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestants

Roman Kemp thinks the UK will be a "tough" location for this year’s ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ contestants.

The 27-year-old radio host has spoken out about the decision to relocate the ITV show – which is usually filmed in the Australian jungle – to a castle in the UK.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Roman – who starred on ‘I’m a Celeb’ in 2019 – explained: "In a nutshell, it will be horrible.

"It would make for great telly, but my god it would be tough. Some parts of Scotland are beautiful and lovely, but at that time of year, I’m not sure I’d want to be doing that.

"I think there are days where the sun does get you through, so I think were they to have it in Scotland and not have any sun, the whole mood would really just grate. It’s just the vibe.

"Whenever it rained, the vibe was different in camp, so it would definitely change that."

Meanwhile, Kevin Lygo, ITV’s director of television, recently promised that the upcoming series will be "hugely entertaining".

Speaking after the decision was made to relocate the show to the UK, he said: "I’m thrilled that we can bring the show to viewers, albeit not in the jungle.

"We have a great team both on and off screen, and I know they will produce a hugely entertaining series."

ITV Studios’ director of entertainment Richard Cowles added: "We pulled out all the stops to try and make the series happen in Australia.

"Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and despite us looking at many different contingencies, it became apparent that it just wasn’t possible for us to travel and make the show there.

"However, we are all really excited about a UK version of ‘I’m a Celebrity’. While it will certainly be different producing the show from the UK, the same tone and feel will remain."
