Roger Daltrey wants Doctor Who role

Roger Daltrey wants to star in ‘Doctor Who’.
The Who musician, 74, has admitted he would love to join new Time Lord Jodie Whittaker in the TARDIS for an adventure through space and time, and revealed he was close to making a guest appearance in the mid-1980s.
Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, he said: "I was almost in it in the Eighties. It was around the period that Bonnie Langford was in it and I know her so she spoke with the producers who loved the idea.
"We tried but it was a busy period with touring and recording. I was so unhappy we never got around to it but I am now hopeful that I may get the call up with the new female Doctor Jodie Whittaker. It would be a dream come true."
Bonnie appeared on the BBC sci-fi show between 1986 and 1987, as the companion for both Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy’s iterations of the Doctor.
Meanwhile, Jodie’s debut series kick off on Sunday (05.10.18) as she becomes the first female star to take on the role, and a number of guest stars are already expected for the run.
As well as Lee Mack and Alan Cumming landing cameo spots, it has been reported that ‘Downton Abbey’ actress Siobhan Finneran will also make an appearance.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Siobhan’s now one of telly’s best-loved drama stars and she’s joining a stellar line-up of guest stars on the new ‘Doctor Who’.
"The team behind the latest series are keen to give cameos to more household names because previous stars, including Peter Kay and James Corden, have proved very popular."
