Rochelle Humes tries to avoid ‘full on crying’ on Children in Need

Rochelle Humes watches every ‘Children in Need’ film "three of four times" on the night to avoid "full on crying" when she is co-hosting the appeal show.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter and her husband Marvin Humes are among the stars co-hosting this year’s telethon, which aims to raise millions for the charity, but the 29-year-old singer prefers to watch the emotional appeal films beforehand to "desensitise", so the show isn’t all about her tearing up.
Rochelle – who has children Alaia-Mai, five, and 19-month-old Valentina with Marvin – said: "I have to watch every film before the live show, I find them so moving and I think when you have kids of your own everything sort of hits you tenfold and I have to desensitise myself a tiny bit to the film.
"I try to watch it about three or four times before that evening because I will always just full on cry and it’s not about me crying, we are there to raise money and do a job so I just want to hold it together as much as I can."
As well as Rochelle and Marvin, Graham Norton will co-host the ‘Children in Need Appeal Show’, and he finds it "really moving" to see people up and down the country coming together to raise money for the cause.
He said: "There aren’t many things that unify this great country but I do think ‘BBC Children in Need’ is one of them.
"I love it when they do the round ups from around the country including all the different cities and you see the fundraising going on, the town squares are full of people, the schools are getting involved and there’s something about that I find really moving.
"I love that everyone is working together for the greater good."
Tess Daly and Ade Adepitan will open the show, followed by Graham and Mel Giedroyc, and then Marvin, Rochelle and newcomer Rob Beckett will reveal the final totaliser before closing the show.
