Billy Connolly has described Robin Williams as his "hero" after the actor was found dead in his home in Tiburon, California.
Connolly – a close friend of the 63-year-old actor and comedian, whose death is believed to be caused by suicide via asphyxiation – said that Williams had an unparalleled talent.
Reflecting on his relationship with the ‘Good Will Hunting’ star, Connolly said: "Robin was both my friend and my hero, a unique talent and a kind and generous man; the world will be a much poorer place without him.
"Robin was one of the most uniquely brilliant and complicated comic artists the world has ever known. As a performer, he navigated a dangerous high wire at every single moment – with no safety net."
Williams’ ‘Good Will Hunting’ co-star Minnie Driver also paid tribute to the popular actor, saying: "I never met anyone who loved making people laugh more than Robin."
Williams won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in the 1997 film – which also starred Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and won the Oscar for Best Picture.
