Robbie Williams: My Brits win is ‘odd’

Robbie Williams thinks it’s "f*****g odd" that he’s won 18 Brit awards.
The ‘Candy’ hitmaker will pick up the Icon lifetime achievement trophy at the star-studded music ceremony on Wednesday (22.02.17) and, although he’s thrilled by the gong, he can’t understand why other artists like Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John haven’t had the same success at the event.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: "It’s kind of that big an achievement that it’s hard to work out why I’ve got 18 Brits and no-one else has. It’s f**king odd.
"Why hasn’t Paul McCartney got 18? Why hasn’t Elton John? Why has a half decent singer who can’t dance from Stoke got 18? It like a glitch in the Matrix."
And the 43-year-old hunk is so chilled out about his success that he usually gives away his accolades to his close friends and family but he wants more.
He explained: "Why do you give the Brit Awards away? It’s because it’s a monument to something that’s already happened and finished, and I want more.
"So I gave one to Wayne Rooney, Paddy McGuinness, some to my dad and my mum. That’s how I see any award really, it’s a monument to something that’s dead. That may be a weird way to look at it, but I want more!"
Robbie was planning to take a break at the end of last year following months of travelling in a bid to promote his latest album ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’.
But his well-deserved rest is yet to happen and it doesn’t look like it’ll take place any time soon as he goes on tour in a few months’ time.
He said: "In classic fashion, I’ve got a tour to do in June, so I’ve decided to f**king go for it. I’ve stopped eating meat, I’ve stopped smoking. But now I’ve f***ed everything up, my back’s out, I’ve had the man flu. I should take it slowly sometimes, I’m not a teenager any more. And I try to do everything all at once."
