Rita Ora releases Shape of Me with Keith Urban in honour of mum Vera

Rita Ora has released ‘Shape of Me’ featuring Keith Urban to mark her mother’s 60th birthday.

The 33-year-old pop star – born to psychiatrist Vera Bajraktari and her pub landlord dad Besnik Sahatçiu – has marked her mum reaching the milestone age by dropping a new version of the track from her 2023 LP ‘You and I’, plus a music video containing precious family footage.

Country pop star Keith, 56, is Rita’s fellow mentor on ‘The Voice Australia’, and said the pair instantly hit it off.

Rita said: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM! We’ve been through everything together. You’ve always been such a beautiful inspiration in my life and in my music. I wanted to write a song about you for the longest time, so when Shape Of Me was written by me and the You and I writing squad for my album and released, I was finally able to share so much that I’ve been feeling about you. It really became clear how much love you’ve shown me and how much you’ve taught me over the years!! SO, what better way to say HBD then to share a new version of it with the AMAZING Keith Urban. He helped me make it that much more special as this song is also showing appreciation to all the women in your life! So surprise mum this one is for you! Happy 60th!”

Keith added: “When I did The Voice with Rita we just clicked right away. She’s great energy to be around and she’s a bad a** singer. So, when she sent me this song and asked if I wanted to sing with her on it, I said, ‘Can I play guitar too?’. I love how it turned out !!!”
