Ridley Scott could still direct Blade Runner sequel

Ridley Scott has reopened the possibility of directing the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel.

The 77-year-old movie-maker was responsible for the first film in 1982 and although he’s previously said he won’t be returning to the role for ‘Blade Runner 2’, he now appears to have performed a U-turn.

He said: "I don’t know about not directing ‘Blade Runner 2’ yet."

Ridley has been coy about the plot of the new film, but has revealed that he and writer Hampton Fancher have already produced a storyline.

The English director told Yahoo: "It’s a tricky one because it’s so personal. The script is very, very good. Very good. I wouldn’t know what sort of director we’d want. It’s a hard one to track because it’s a very personal piece of my work.

"We talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one."

He also confirmed Harrison Ford, 72 – who starred in the original – will be appearing in the sequel, but told fans not to expect to see him until late in the movie.

Ridley – whose new film ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ is out this month – explained: "Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him; he comes in in the third act."
