Richard and Judy: Susanna Reid won’t save Daybreak

Susanna Reid won’t save ITV’s breakfast programming, according to Richard and Judy.

The famous TV couple, best known for hosting ‘This Morning’, say no amount of talent change will save ITV’s troubled morning slot and feel the problem lies within the format itself, and not the presenters or the name of the show.

Susanna, 43, is set to jump ship from ‘BBC Breakfast’ next month to front ITV’s new programme ‘Good Morning Britain’, which will replace ‘Daybreak’.

Judy Finnigan told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Will ‘Daybreak’ survive? I don’t think it is to do with celebrities or the presenters. I think it is about the programme, which either works or it doesn’t. I don’t understand it. It is a mystery."

Judy’s husband Richard Madeley added: "Will Susanna save it? That is a huge burden to put on any presenter’s shoulders. Nobody understands it. It is like a best selling book. Everybody thinks they know the formula and there isn’t one."

Susanna has signed a massive £500,000 deal to join ITV, but Richard has warned that bosses will need "patience" if they expect long-term success for ‘Good Morning Britain’.

He said: "You need patience to get it right and confidence that you know what you are doing. Susanna knows what she is doing. I think they will change the format and good luck to them as it is hard."
