Reece Shearsmith wants League of Gentleman revival when they’re ’70’

Reece Shearsmith wants ‘The League of Gentlemen’ to reunite when they’re "70".
The 50-year-old actor and comedian is part of the group – which also consists of Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, and Jeremy Dyson – who created and starred in the comedy series between 1999 and 2002.
And after reuniting in 2017 for a three part mini-series to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the group’s first appearance on BBC Radio 4, Reece has said the only way they’ll get together for a second revival is when "one of [them] dies", or when they’re old enough to need "Zimmer frames" to help them walk.
Speaking about a possible reunion, Reece said: "I don’t know what the next anniversary of it would be. When one of us dies? It would have to be a while now, until it felt special again. Maybe we’ll have a reunion when we’re 70 and return on our Zimmer frames."
For the time being, Reece is working with Steve on ‘Inside No. 9’, which is set to return for a fifth series on Monday (03.02.20).
Asked what fans can expect from the series, he said: "I hope that there are as many surprises as people have come to expect from the show. I think that there are going to be some unexpected reactions to some of the stories we’ve told; although it gets harder to keep the surprise going."
Reece denied reports the show has been commissioned for a sixth series, but says there’s "no reason" the show should end just yet.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine, he explained: "We’re happy with the way that it’s gone so far. I think we still have a few good stories and we’re not repeating ourselves. Besides, we might not get another series. I read somewhere that it had been commissioned for series six and I was like, ‘It’s news to me.’ It’s not been confirmed yet! It’s not in our powers to say ‘Yeah, we’ll keep going, thank you.’
"But if the people want it, I think we will keep doing it, until we think there’s a good place to stop. I think that as long as we feel that as writers and creators, there’s no reason why it should end."
